ROBIN OVERNIGHTS IN THE SENATE WITH BATO, 7 YEARS AFTER CALLING IT 'SENATE HOTEL'

Sen. Robinhood Padilla on Tuesday admitted that he stayed overnight inside the Senate with Sen. Bato Dela Rosa after the attempted service of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) personnel.

"Hindi [ako umuwi]. Oo [sinamahan ko si Sen. Bato]," Padilla said, seven years after criticizing then-Sen. Antonio "Sonny" Trillanes IV for allegedly taking refuge inside the Senate.

In a September 5, 2018 Facebook Live video, which has since resurfaced online amid his defense of Dela Rosa, Padilla strongly condemned Trillanes' presence inside the chamber, arguing that it should not be used as a place of refuge from law enforcement.

"Dito po sa loob na ito ay nagtatago ang isang senador na mismong hindi ho sumusunod sa batas," Padilla said.

"Kami mga ordinaryong tao, kapag may kaso, wala kaming magawa. Kapag sinabi ng pulis na kailangan namin sumama sa kanila, sumasama kami," he added.

"Hotel pala 'to eh. Gawin natin 'tong Senate Hotel of the Philippines," Padilla said.
