Huge congratulations to our very own 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗜𝘄𝗮𝗴, 𝗥𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼 for her incredible success in passing the 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝘾𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙀𝙭𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. This Earth Hour 2026, the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 calls on everyone to take a stand for our planet—one simple action at a time.

Established by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Earth Hour is more than just switching off lights—it is a global movement reminding us of our shared responsibility to protect the Earth. In a time of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation, this symbolic act unites millions across the world in support of a more sustainable future.

On March 28, 2026, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, we invite everyone to take part in this meaningful global action.

As young environmental stewards, we believe that small actions spark big change. By participating in Earth Hour, we raise awareness, conserve energy, and inspire others to care for the only home we have.

Together, let us turn off the lights and turn on our commitment to protect, preserve, and sustain our environment. 💚🌍

This afternoon, the Young Environmentalist Society was accorded the privilege of meeting with Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Gilda E. Deguma, who reaffirmed our collective responsibility to preserve and sustain the beauty of Northern Iloilo State University.

Dr. Deguma underscored the significance of artistic endeavors in cultivating creativity while further enhancing the leadership and environmental advocacy of the Young Environmentalist Society.

Her message encouraged the organization more to regard stewardship not merely as an obligation, but as a meaningful expression of identity as students and advocates of sustainability.

With a renewed sense of purpose and commitment, we steadfastly move forward in advancing a shared vision of a university that flourishes in harmony with nature, culture, and academic excellence.

"Where Water Flows, Equality Grows"

𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚

Every March 22, the world unites for World Water Day, recognizing that clean water is the foundation of all human rights. In 2026, the Young Environmentalists Society proudly advocates alongside the United Nations to champion the powerful theme: "Where Water Flows, Equality Grows." Water is the "blue thread" connecting health, economic stability, and, most crucially, social justice. When we secure water for everyone, we weave a stronger fabric for progress, ensuring that as water flows, opportunity and equality grow in its wake. This is not just a resource; it is the path to a sustainable and equitable human future.

𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚

The necessity for this focus is stark: the global community faces a "Global Water Bankruptcy," where our demand for freshwater far outstrips the Earth’s natural ability to replenish it. Agriculture—the very cornerstone of society—remains a major consumer, yet water is equally essential for food security and economic stability. This crisis is not distributed equally; it cripples public health systems, with nearly 4 billion people facing seasonal water scarcity. Without intervention, water-stressed ecosystems will continue to crumble, destabilizing entire communities and widening the gap of systemic poverty.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮

The global water crisis is not just a resource problem; it is a crisis of inequality. Every single day, women and girls around the world spend a combined 200 million hours walking just to fetch water. This "water poverty" steals their future, taking away time that should be spent in classrooms or at work. When half the population is held back by the simple need for water, the whole world stays behind. However, when we put women in charge of managing water, systems are better maintained and resources are shared more fairly. Real progress begins when we realize that gender equality is the key to solving the water crisis.

𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙨 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙚

Real change starts right here at home. Whether we are planting mangroves, fishing responsibly, or cleaning our rivers, we are proving that local action solves global problems. This is the power of the "Hydro-Generation"—a group of young leaders taking charge of the environment they live in. It begins with simple, daily habits: saving every drop, being mindful of the water used to make the clothes we buy, and speaking up for our local supply. When we protect our water today, we are protecting our own future.

𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚

Ultimately, water is the "blue connector" that holds our global goals together. We must realize that we cannot achieve SDG 5 (Gender Equality) or SDG 13 (Climate Action) without first securing SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) for everyone. Water is the foundation; without it, the rest of the blueprint for a better world collapse.
Protecting our water is not just about fixing a plumbing problem—it is about protecting human dignity and ensuring that no one is left behind. When we stand up for water access, we are safeguarding a future where every person has the chance to thrive. Because when the water flows, equality—and our shared future—truly grows.
