The seventh of eleven children, Rizal showed exceptional intelligence at a young age, mastering reading and writing early and excelling in his studies. He pursued higher education in the Philippines before continuing his studies in Spain, where he earned degrees in Medicine and Philosophy and Letters. A gifted scholar, Rizal was also a writer, artist, linguist, educator, and scientist who spoke and understood several languages.
Through his influential novels, ๐๐ค๐ก๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ก ๐๐๐ก๐๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ข๐ค, Rizal exposed the abuses and injustices suffered by Filipinos under Spanish colonial rule. His writings awakened national consciousness and inspired peaceful reforms. Although he advocated change through education and civic action rather than violence, his ideas became a powerful force in the movement for Philippine independence.
Rizal was executed on December 30, 1896, in Bagumbayan (๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐๐ช๐ป๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ฌ, ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ช๐ญ๐ข) at the age of 35. His life, works, and sacrifices earned him recognition as the National Hero of the Philippines.
