Unlike before, bookending seasons hasn’t been straightforward for us. Climate change has definitely had an impact on when turtles lay their eggs that from 2023-2025, nesting only tapers but does not completely stop for us. But as we “officially” begin another season, allow us to pause a bit and celebrate all the wins we’ve had.

As always, we are very thankful for all the support we’ve received — the funding, donations, new partnerships, volunteering, and the kind messages all help keep us going. You’re all turtle-y awesome 🤗

Eating marine turtles is illegal and can be deadly but simply antagonizing those who do so don’t help at all. As the author writes —

The BBC report about the poisoning in the Philippines sparked comments from readers, most of whom were unsympathetic, calling the victims “backward people” and even celebrating the deaths as “karma.”

Lost in the victim blaming is the need for education on the ecological context of this deadly phenomenon.
