LAGING HANDA 🧭

“We cannot control every challenge that young people may face, but we can prepare them,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara said.
The Department of Education is calling for stronger preparedness, safety, and life-saving training for Filipino learners through scouting.

Angara raised the call during the launch of the World of Scouting: Heritage and Adventure Camp in Makati City, emphasizing that schools should equip students not only with academic knowledge but also with practical skills for emergencies and real-life situations.

Among the areas being considered is stronger swimming and water-survival training for members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. The proposal is expected to be discussed during the organization’s national meeting, although specific changes have not yet been announced.

Angara said knowledge of safety and survival could mean the difference between danger and hope—and, in some situations, between life and death.

The renewed focus follows recent incidents that placed greater attention on water safety and preparedness during outdoor and recreational activities.

DepEd also continues to strengthen programs involving disaster preparedness, emergency response, child protection, and mental health.

Scouting is seen as an important partner because its activities develop discipline, leadership, service, teamwork, and readiness among young people.

The department also recognized teachers who prioritized their students’ safety during the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that affected parts of Mindanao last June, showing how preparedness becomes crucial when emergencies happen without warning.

Through stronger scouting programs, students may learn skills that extend beyond school requirements—from responding calmly during disasters to protecting themselves and helping others in critical situations.

MANGROVE REFORESTATION🌱🌱🌱

🌱🌱Roots in the mud, life in the sea.🌱🌱

LOOK: In observance of National Disaster Resilience Month 2026, D.R.O.N.E.S. INC. proudly participated in the Mangrove Reforestation Activity held on July 17, 2026, at Barangay Tapon, Dumanjug, Cebu.

The activity was facilitated by the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) / Emergency Response Team ERT - Dumanjug, Cebu, headed by Mr. Al Jay P. Alviola, and brought together various government agencies, private sector partners, and civil society organizations in a shared commitment to environmental conservation and disaster resilience.

Mangroves play a vital role in protecting coastal communities by reducing the impacts of storm surges, preventing shoreline erosion, and providing habitat for diverse marine life. Through this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding our environment and building more resilient communities for future generations.

While typhoons are inevitable, their impact can be reduced through collective action and environmental stewardship. Together, we can strengthen our coastal communities—one mangrove at a time.

COMMUNITY SIMULATION EXERCISE ⛑️⛑️
ON STORM SURGE AND FLOODING🌀⛈️🌊

LOOK: D.R.O.N.E.S. Inc. joins the Community Simulation Exercise on Storm Surge and Flooding at Brgy. Tapon, Dumanjug, Cebu. In coordination with the Local Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office - ERT - Dumanjug, Cebu headed by Mr. AL JAY P. ALVIOLA. The event was successfully coordinated with different agencies and authorities to guide individual and families living near the coastline and evacuated to their respective displaced person camps.

This event also boost coordination and preparation between different Government departments, private agencies and volunteer groups in times of emergency, and the same time disseminating proper information and preparation to the families and individuals living near the coast line in Brgy. Tapon, Dumanjug, Cebu.
