𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀?

Nature offers more than just beautiful scenery—it can also give our minds room to breathe and recover from the stress of everyday life.

But while nature can improve our well-being, environmental problems can also affect our mental health. Pollution, overcrowded cities, and the growing impacts of climate change can contribute to stress, anxiety, and feelings of helplessness about the future.

This is why 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸. Protecting the environment is not only about conserving biodiversity and natural resources, it is also about protecting the spaces that help us feel grounded and alive.

Let's care for the Earth not only because nature needs us, but because 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼.

💚 As we care for ourselves this 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙖𝙮, let’s not forget to care for the planet that sustains us. Let’s make room for nature in our lives and take action to protect it for generations to come.

𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝑹𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒔.
A little late, but always worth the share. 💚

NORSU Environmental Sustainability Team President 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐨 joined fellow student leaders as an LSO Representative during 𝗡𝗢𝗥𝗦𝗨 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗘: 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, held on 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟳–𝟮𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, at 𝗡𝗢𝗥𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀.

Carrying the theme “𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙊𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙫𝙚, 𝙃𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧, 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚, 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡,” the two-day summit brought together student leaders from different NORSU campuses for meaningful discussions, activities, and shared experiences that strengthened leadership, collaboration, and organizational engagement. 🫂

The summit served as a reminder that leadership extends beyond the positions we hold. It is reflected in how we 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗦, 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦, work with others, and turn 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡.

As an LSO Representative, Nicole took part in this shared space of learning and collaboration, bringing with her the values of NEST while connecting with fellow student leaders beyond her own organization.

Because leadership doesn’t just live in a 𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗟𝗘—it lives in the 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡. ✨

On 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲, let's honor our feathered companions and promote responsible pet ownership. Today, we celebrate their playful chirps and curious personalities, and we also advocate for the protection and proper handling of every species, because every bird deserves love, care, and a safe place to thrive. 💚

Whether endemic or exotic, all wild birds are protected wildlife, and selling or possessing them is illegal under 𝐑𝐀 𝟗𝟏𝟒𝟕.

Let's ensure that we promote proper, responsible bird care not only on National Pet Bird Day but on every other day as well.

Let's love our avian friends without supporting illegal wildlife trade and report suspicious online sales to the DENR and appropriate local authorities.

Protect birds in the wild, where they play an important role in forest ecosystems. 🌱
