As seen in the image, the heart of the Philippine Red Cross beats loudest through action—from relief distributions and medical missions to community health responses and logistical support in times of crisis. Wherever help is needed, our people are on the front lines, embodying our enduring commitment to be Always First, Always Ready, Always There.

As Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon emphasizes, "Volunteers serve as the organization's backbone and ensure that whatever the community is living through—a natural disaster, a health crisis, a conflict—we will continue to be the lifeline of the people". Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang echoes this sentiment, reminding us that "the movement has always been built on ordinary people" who dedicate themselves to service.

Negros Oriental is facing a critical shortage of blood supplies, and the need for lifesaving blood is urgent. With patients already being affected, every eligible donor can make a meaningful difference.

To help address the shortage, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Negros Oriental Chapter is opening its Blood Service Facility for walk-in blood donors on the following dates:

📅 AUGUST 17–20 — 8:00 AM–3:00 PM

As part of the observance of 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, the Philippine Red Cross – Negros Oriental Chapter, in partnership with the 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐎) conducted a 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at the DYSR Compound, Banilad, Dumaguete City, bringing together staff and volunteers in a shared effort to care for the environment and strengthen our communities against the impacts of climate change and disasters.

A total of 𝟏,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 were successfully planted during the activity. Coinciding with the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟔, the activity highlighted the important role of mangroves in protecting coastal communities by reducing erosion, serving as natural barriers against storm surges, supporting marine biodiversity, and strengthening disaster resilience. More than an environmental initiative, it was a meaningful step toward safeguarding both nature and the communities that depend on it.

At the Philippine Red Cross, resilience goes beyond emergency response. It also means taking proactive steps to reduce risks before disasters happen. In celebration of 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Negros Oriental Chapter proudly hosted its annual 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬' 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐧 on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, honoring the local government units, educational institutions, organizations, communities, and individuals whose unwavering support has strengthened voluntary blood donation across Negros Oriental.

The event recognized the outstanding accomplishments of our 2025 Blood Services partners, whose commitment to organizing and supporting Mobile Blood Donation (MBD)activities helped ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in need.

Seven outstanding partners were likewise recognized for collecting 75 to 95 blood units, reflecting the continued dedication of local government units, educational institutions, organizations, and community groups in promoting voluntary blood donation.

The PRC also recognized its Blood Advocates, dedicated individuals who consistently organize and coordinate Mobile Blood Donation activities, helping bring lifesaving blood donation opportunities closer to their communities.
