FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE CITY OF LITERATURE βœ¨πŸ“–

The pages may have closed on the 64th Silliman University National Writers Workshop, but the stories, lessons, and memories continue to unfold.

The members of the English Club of the College of Education – Silliman University (ECCOES) proudly celebrate the successful completion of their volunteer journey at the 64th SUNWW. Through this remarkable experience, we immersed ourselves in the world of literature, witnessing the creative process behind powerful works and engaging with esteemed panelists, whether it was Dr. Timothy Montes, Dr. D.M. Reyes, Ma’am Jen Soriano, Sir Lawrence Ypil, Dr. Jerry Respeto, Dr. Jose Wendell Capili, Dr. Januar Yap, or Sir Ian Rosales Casocot.

As future educators, writers, and advocates of language, we carry forward the spirit of the SUNWW and the mission of the English and Literature Department: to nurture voices, celebrate stories, and keep the good literary flame burning bright.

Here’s to literature that challenges, inspires, and transforms.

How do poets transform the ordinary textures of life into moments of beauty, reflection, and meaning?

As part of the 64th Silliman University National Writers Workshop (SUNWW), director-in-residence D.M. Reyes will deliver a lecture titled, β€œThe Art of Poetry According to the Tiempo Women” on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 9:00 AM at LibrAria, Arts + Design Collective Dumaguete (ADCD), 58 EJ Blanco Drive.

Through various editions of the 64-year old Silliman University National Writers Workshop, we have heard the ideas of the Tiempo women on how to transform daily experience into poetry. But how does their individual practice of poetry embody those tenets?

This conversation returns to the poetry of Edith L. Tiempo and Rowena Tiempo Torrevillas. It revisits their aesthetic vision, poetic strategies, and the labor of the poetic imagination transforming the rawness of human experience into considered moments of art and insight.

It will invite us to revisit the enduring legacy of the Tiempo women and the art of seeing deeply through verse.

This is a FREE PUBLIC LECTURE.

See you there!

πŸ“–βœ¨ Hark, fellow dreamers, poets, storytellers, and lovers of language! βœ¨πŸ“–

As a new chapter unfolds and the pages of another academic year begin to turn, I proudly stand with the English Club of the College of Education – Silliman University (ECCOES) in welcoming School Year 2026–2027.

Like quills dancing across parchment and verses whispered beneath moonlit skies, may this year be filled with stories yet unwritten, poems yet recited, and voices yet discovered. Let us weave together the magic of literature, the beauty of language, and the power of words that shape minds and inspire hearts.

So raise your books high, let your voices be heard, and step boldly into this grand adventure.

πŸ“š Through literature, we imagine.
πŸ–‹ Through poetry, we feel.
πŸ“– Through stories, we connect.
πŸ—£ Through language, we transform.

Welcome, S.Y. 2026–2027!
