ATTENTION, SILLIMANIANS!

In light of the recent Kalimantan, Indonesia forest fire, which have significantly affected air quality in Dumaguete City and parts of Central Visayas, the Silliman University Student Government - Health Emergency Response Team (SUSG HERT) is issuing the following advisory.

Satellite imagery has confirmed the spread of Carbon Monoxide and PM2.5/PM10 particulates across our region. To protect your health, we strongly advise the entire Silliman community to adhere to the following safety measures:

🌫️ SMOG SAFETY MEASURES:

01. CHECK- Check AQI before heading outdoors.

02. STAY IN- Limit unnecessary outdoor exposure.
03. DON'T EXERCISE OUTSIDE- Move runs, rides & sports indoors.
04. MASK UP- Wear a well-fitting N95 when outdoor exposure is unavoidable.
05. CLEAN THE AIR - Close windows + doors. Use AC on recirculate. Run an air purifier if available.
06. PROTECT OTHERS - People with asthma/heart or lung disease, pregnant people, and other vulnerable individuals should take extra precautions.
07. DON'T IGNORE WARNING SIGNS- Difficulty breathing • chest pain • severe wheezing • worsening symptoms → seek medical care.

The youth are watching. The youth are speaking. And the youth will continue to demand better.

The Silliman University Student Government echoes the growing call for transparency and accountability. We refuse to stay silent when transparency is demanded and when the Filipinos deserve answers. The youth are not just spectators in the decisions that shape communities, we are part of the movement demanding better.

As the youth, we have a role to play in shaping the spaces we are part of. The youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, we are stakeholders today.

We call on students to stay informed, speak up, ask questions, remain critical, and stand together in demanding the accountability we deserve. Let us not remain silent or indifferent.

CONCESSIONAIRE SPOTLIGHT: 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐦🌟

What a night! 🎸✨

Sillimusika 2026 was definitely a blast, and singing along with December Avenue is definitely going down as one of our favorite memories this year.

An event like this wouldn't have been the same without the great food and local finds at the Filomena Cimafranca Ballfield. A huge thank you to 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐦 for partnering with us—it was an absolute honor to work with your team, and we’re so grateful for your support in making the night such a success! 💖
