👁️ Protect Your Sight. Protect Our Community.

With the recent increase in conjunctivitis (pink eye) cases in Dumaguete City, now is the time to stay informed and practice good eye hygiene.

Pink eye is a common inflammation of the conjunctiva that may be caused by viruses, bacteria, or allergies. Viral and bacterial conjunctivitis can spread easily through direct contact with infected eye secretions or contaminated hands and surfaces.

If you experience redness, itching, tearing, eye discharge, or swollen eyelids, avoid touching or rubbing your eyes, wash your hands frequently, and seek medical consultation if symptoms worsen or persist.

🩺 Help prevent the spread:
- Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.
- Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes.
- Do not share towels, pillows, makeup, or eye drops.
- Stay home from school or work if advised by your healthcare provider, especially if your condition is contagious.

Knowledge is one of our best defenses. Stay informed, stay vigilant, and help keep our community healthy.

SUSG STATEMENT ON PAX SILICA.

The Silliman University Student Government (SUSG) recognizes the proposed Pax Silica initiative as a development that carries significant implications for the country's industrial and technological future. Pax Silica is a United States-led partnership focused on securing the production of computer chips, artificial intelligence systems, and the critical minerals needed to support them. As part of this initiative, the Philippines is set to host a large economic zone in New Clark City, where manufacturing facilities may be established.

While the project is presented as an opportunity to create jobs and strengthen global partnerships, it also raises important concerns that must not be overlooked.

We recognize the need to keep pace in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world. However, progress must not come at the expense of the communities that may be directly affected. Concerns surrounding environmental impact, resource use, and the welfare of affected sectors must remain central in determining whether this project will genuinely serve the interests of the Filipino people.

SUSG believes that development should lead to meaningful, inclusive, and lasting gains. It should not be measured solely by short-term economic opportunities or investments that fail to benefit local communities. Those who stand to be directly affected deserve to be meaningfully included in the conversation, and the country's resources must be managed with transparency, accountability, and long-term responsibility.

We urge all stakeholders to commit to uncompromising transparency, proactively address legitimate public concerns, and assume full accountability for the project’s social, environmental, and economic impacts.

We urge the Sillimanian community to remain informed, engaged, and critical as discussions surrounding Pax Silica continue. Let us uphold meaningful dialogue and demand for a future where development is guided not only by economic progress, but also by accountability and the genuine welfare of the Filipino people

Introducing DASIG (Diverse Advocates for Student Inclusion and Growth), a consultative body under the SUSG Advocacy Committee committed to fostering a more inclusive and supportive community for all Sillimanians. ❤️

DASIG is a platform where students from diverse backgrounds and experiences can share their stories, raise their concerns, and find support. We believe that every Sillimanian deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued. By listening to one another and working together, we hope to create a campus where everyone truly feels they belong.

HEADS UP! 📢

The SUSG Resolutions Committee hereby releases the Legislative Performance Report of the Silliman University Student Government for A.Y. 2025–2026. Following the conclusion of the previous academic year and the adjournment sine die of the 35th SUSG Student Assembly, a total of forty-six (46) resolutions were authored and passed by the Assembly's representatives, approved by SUSG President Grylle Adrian Malala, and subsequently processed by the Committee for implementation or endorsement.

Of the 46 resolutions, twenty-eight (28) were directed to the SUSG and its structure, organization, procedures, rules and regulations, programs, projects, events, and activities, while eighteen (18) were requests to the university administration and its various offices and units. No resolutions were vetoed for the school year.
