We’ve heard our scholars’ goals. Now, let’s hear their parents’ hopes.

Every child has a dream, and behind that dream is a parent who hopes to see their child grow, succeed, and have a better future.

For the next three posts, we’re sharing A Parent’s Hope—the dreams and hopes parents have for their children and the future they envision for them.

“My dream for my children is for them to finish their studies. I will do my best to support them in reaching their dreams. It would be my greatest joy to see them finish their studies because I do not want them to experience the same hardships I have experienced in life.”

This is more than a parent’s dream. It is a hope for a future where their children have more opportunities and a chance at a better life.

Lord, we lift up the people affected by the devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet.

Be with those who have lost their loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. Bring comfort to grieving families and strength to those who are still searching for their loved ones.

Protect the rescue teams and everyone working tirelessly on the ground. Give them wisdom, courage, and the resources they need to reach those who are stranded and in need.

Lord, provide shelter, food, safety, and hope to every affected family. May communities come together to help one another, and may Your presence bring peace in the midst of this tragedy.

May those who are missing be found, those who are suffering be comforted, and those who are afraid find hope.

A Prayer for Our Children and Schools

Heavenly Father,

We pray for our children, our schools, teachers, and families across the Philippines.

We are saddened by the recent violence that has left students hurt and lives lost. We pray for those who are grieving, those who were affected, and everyone carrying the pain of these events.

Lord, protect our children and bring peace to our schools. May we also remember those who are struggling and hurting, and help us respond with compassion, wisdom, and understanding.

Give parents, teachers, and school leaders the wisdom to recognize those who need help and the courage to reach out before things become worse.

May our schools be places of safety, kindness, understanding, and hope.

May there be healing for those who were hurt, and help for those who are hurting.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦𝘴.

Today, we joined other organizations that share the same heart for serving communities as we learned more about Community Development. Despite the rainy weather, it was a meaningful time of learning, sharing, and building connections.

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Loujesa for generously sharing your wisdom and experience with us. We also extend our gratitude to Samaritana for warmly hosting this meaningful gathering.

May we continue to learn, collaborate, and serve communities with compassion and purpose.

Many cases of OSAEC involve perpetrators who are known to the child, including family members. Poverty, limited livelihood opportunities, and a lack of awareness about children's rights can increase a child's risk of exploitation. Preventing OSAEC requires more than rescuing victims—it requires strengthening families before exploitation occurs. By providing child protection education, parenting support, human rights awareness, and sustainable livelihood opportunities, families are better equipped to create safe, nurturing environments where children are protected, valued, and less vulnerable to exploitation. Strengthening families is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of abuse and build safer communities for every child.

Bangungot para sa ilang biktima ng OSAEC ang karanasang nagsimula mismo sa loob ng kanilang tahanan.

Batay sa datos, nasa 41% ng mga biktima ang naaabuso ng taong malapit sa kanila. Itinuturing din ang Pilipinas na "melting pot" ng ganitong krimen dahil sa kombinasyon ng kahirapan, malawak na access sa internet, at paggamit ng wikang Ingles.

Bilang tugon, ipinasa ang Republic Act No. 11930 noong 2022 upang palakasin ang kampanya laban sa OSAEC at Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM).
