Rotary Club of Metro Dipolog Conducts Peacebuilding and Safety Orientation at Diwan Elementary School
DIWAN, Dipolog City — The Rotary Club of Metro Dipolog successfully conducted an orientation on Peacebuilding, Disease Prevention and Treatment, with the main topic “Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding,” for Grade 4, 5, and 6 learners of Diwan Elementary School in Diwan, Dipolog City on March 10, 2026.
The activity aimed to educate young learners on the importance of building peaceful relationships, preventing conflicts, and promoting health awareness within their school and community. The orientation featured knowledgeable and engaging speakers, Carlyn Montre, RN, who discussed health-related topics under disease prevention and treatment, and Jobanie Montre, a Bureau of Fire Officer, who shared valuable insights on safety and emergency preparedness.
One of the highlights of the activity was the Orientation on Promoting Safety through Fire Prevention and Fire Drill, conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection, which equipped the learners with practical knowledge and awareness on how to respond during fire-related emergencies. The session emphasized the importance of safety, preparedness, and discipline among students in ensuring a secure learning environment.
The orientation provided significant benefits to the learners as it strengthened their understanding of peacebuilding, personal safety, and health awareness—key areas aligned with Rotary’s Areas of Focus. Through the discussions and demonstrations, the learners were able to gain practical knowledge that they can apply both in school and at home.
Following the successful orientation, a fellowship gathering and sumptuous lunch were held, where members of the Rotary Club and the school faculty discussed upcoming Rotary projects that will further benefit the school, learners, and the surrounding community.
Both the Rotary Club and the school expressed their sincere gratitude for the collaborative effort and continued partnership that made the activity successful. Appreciation was extended to the teachers, Rotary Club officers, and members who actively participated and supported the initiative.
As a token of appreciation, certificates of recognition were awarded to the Rotary Club of Metro Dipolog and the Bureau of Fire Protection for their valuable contributions to the activity.
The program was made possible through the full support of Diwan Elementary School Principal Venus J. Catipay, who also serves as the Club Administration Chair of the Rotary Club of Metro Dipolog, together with Club Adviser Zelgie Vidal, RC Metro Club President Mary Lyn Torralba, Public Image Chair Jesus O. Gutual Jr., Sgt. Jennifer Patiño, PAFR, and the dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff of Diwan Elementary School.

Gov Lindon See Diet, RC Metro Dipolog Club President, and ROTARACT Club of Dipolog President shared good insights in sharing the blessings to the fire victims who totally lost their homes and temporarily stayed at Minaog Covered Court as their temporary shelter under the tents given by the Dipolog City Government and other financial, medicines, foods clothing's from the DSWD and other agencies who offered direct voluntary assistance to all of the families who are victims of fire disaster.
Rotary Clubs Extend Aid to Fire Victims in Dipolog City
Dipolog City — In a compassionate response to a recent fire incident, the Rotary Club of Dipolog and the Rotary Club of Metro Dipolog, through the support of Rotary District Funds, have joined hands to provide immediate assistance to affected families in Purok Buli, Barangay Minaog.
A total of 19 families who lost their homes in the fire are currently taking temporary shelter at the Minaog Covered Court. To help ease their situation, the Rotary clubs organized food assistance in the form of packed dinners, which will be distributed for eight consecutive nights. This initiative aims to ensure that the displaced families have access to warm and nutritious meals during this challenging time.
District Governor Lindon See Diet, along with the President of the Rotary Club of Metro Dipolog and the President of the Rotaract Club of Dipolog, expressed heartfelt messages emphasizing the importance of compassion, unity, and service. They highlighted that in times of crisis, collective efforts and shared blessings can bring hope and comfort to those in need.
The beneficiaries, who are currently residing under temporary tents provided by the Dipolog City Government, have also received additional assistance from various agencies. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), along with other organizations, extended support in the form of financial aid, medicines, clothing, and food supplies.
This collaborative effort reflects the true spirit of volunteerism and bayanihan, as government units, civic organizations, and community members come together to uplift families affected by disaster. The Rotary Clubs reaffirm their commitment to continue serving the community, especially in times when help is needed the most.
