KKDAT CARAGA HOLDS 2ND REGIONAL COUNCIL MEETING IN DINAGAT ISLANDS
The Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) Caraga Regional Council successfully held its 2nd Quarter Regional Council Meeting last July 19, 2025, at IJN Yamashiro, People's Hall, Brgy. Cuarinta, San Jose, Dinagat Islands, from 9:55 AM to 11:44 AM.
Presided over by KKDAT Caraga President Vanessa Marie Yaoyao, the meeting gathered youth leaders from across the region. The opening program featured an invocation by Vice President Angel Wayne Catubigan, roll call by Secretary Jamille Paler, and welcoming remarks by Mr. Kim Valeri Tampon, KKDAT Dinagat Islands Representative and SK Federation President of San Jose, who also served as the meeting’s host and PIO.
The Dinagat Islands Police Provincial Office (DIPPO), under Provincial Director PCOL Jerome A. Dela Cruz, graciously accommodated the participants, with full support from the KKDAT Dinagat Islands Provincial Council & KKDAT, led by Provincial President Kim Tampon and KKDAT San Jose President Nova Mi Bacalso, who ensured a smooth and well-coordinated gathering.
Key Highlights:
KKDAT Regional Summit 2025: Scheduled for September 8–10, 2025, with each province required to send five (5) delegates and a PHP 4,500 registration fee per unit. The summit’s theme is Glam (Black, Gold, Silver).
Pre-Summit Peace Engagement Activity: Set for August 30, 2025, to be conducted simultaneously across all provincial units.
Elections:
Provincial elections are to be completed before the summit, with submission of results due by August 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
Regional elections will take place on the final day of the summit, September 10, 2025.
Advocacy Vlog Contest: Two categories will be launched to strengthen youth awareness and involvement in peace and development.
2026 Palarong Pambansa Preparations: Psychological aider training is tentatively scheduled for November 2025, along with logistical planning and coordination.
Firing Activity: As part of the event, a Firing Activity was also conducted by the DIPPO to promote responsible firearm handling and instill discipline and safety awareness among the youth, especially the KKDAT members. This served as an opportunity to educate the youth on firearm safety in line with national peace and order advocacy.
Strengthened Collaboration: Emphasis was placed on working closely with Local Youth Development Offices (LYDOs) and relevant government agencies for a more unified and well-supported youth movement.
YORP Registration and Funding: The council aims to finalize KKDAT Caraga’s Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP) and will formally seek financial assistance through correspondence with partner offices.
During the session, a resolution was proposed by Mr. Kim Valeri Tampon and seconded by Ms. Shyra Mae Collantro. A motion to determine the next regional meeting venue through electronic selection was also carried, moved by President Yaoyao and seconded by Mr. Niel Joer Jipos. The next council meeting is tentatively scheduled to be hosted in Surigao del Sur.
