KKDAT CARAGA HOLDS 2ND REGIONAL COUNCIL MEETING IN DINAGAT ISLANDS

The Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) Caraga Regional Council successfully held its 2nd Quarter Regional Council Meeting last July 19, 2025, at IJN Yamashiro, People's Hall, Brgy. Cuarinta, San Jose, Dinagat Islands, from 9:55 AM to 11:44 AM.

Presided over by KKDAT Caraga President Vanessa Marie Yaoyao, the meeting gathered youth leaders from across the region. The opening program featured an invocation by Vice President Angel Wayne Catubigan, roll call by Secretary Jamille Paler, and welcoming remarks by Mr. Kim Valeri Tampon, KKDAT Dinagat Islands Representative and SK Federation President of San Jose, who also served as the meeting’s host and PIO.

The Dinagat Islands Police Provincial Office (DIPPO), under Provincial Director PCOL Jerome A. Dela Cruz, graciously accommodated the participants, with full support from the KKDAT Dinagat Islands Provincial Council & KKDAT, led by Provincial President Kim Tampon and KKDAT San Jose President Nova Mi Bacalso, who ensured a smooth and well-coordinated gathering.

Key Highlights:

KKDAT Regional Summit 2025: Scheduled for September 8–10, 2025, with each province required to send five (5) delegates and a PHP 4,500 registration fee per unit. The summit’s theme is Glam (Black, Gold, Silver).

Pre-Summit Peace Engagement Activity: Set for August 30, 2025, to be conducted simultaneously across all provincial units.

Elections:

Provincial elections are to be completed before the summit, with submission of results due by August 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM.

Regional elections will take place on the final day of the summit, September 10, 2025.

Advocacy Vlog Contest: Two categories will be launched to strengthen youth awareness and involvement in peace and development.

2026 Palarong Pambansa Preparations: Psychological aider training is tentatively scheduled for November 2025, along with logistical planning and coordination.

Firing Activity: As part of the event, a Firing Activity was also conducted by the DIPPO to promote responsible firearm handling and instill discipline and safety awareness among the youth, especially the KKDAT members. This served as an opportunity to educate the youth on firearm safety in line with national peace and order advocacy.

Strengthened Collaboration: Emphasis was placed on working closely with Local Youth Development Offices (LYDOs) and relevant government agencies for a more unified and well-supported youth movement.

YORP Registration and Funding: The council aims to finalize KKDAT Caraga’s Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP) and will formally seek financial assistance through correspondence with partner offices.

During the session, a resolution was proposed by Mr. Kim Valeri Tampon and seconded by Ms. Shyra Mae Collantro. A motion to determine the next regional meeting venue through electronic selection was also carried, moved by President Yaoyao and seconded by Mr. Niel Joer Jipos. The next council meeting is tentatively scheduled to be hosted in Surigao del Sur.

December 30 is Dr. Jose Rizal Day.

May natitira pabang kabataan na katulad ni Rizal? Sa panahon ngayon, minsan nalang ako nakakakita ng mga tao na handang lumaban at itaya ang kanilang buhay para sa bayan.

Sa araw na ito, nais kung ipamulat sa kabataan na unti unting nauubos na mga tinatawag na "PAG-ASA", bagkos naging mas marami ang mga sakit ng ulo sa lipunan.

Sana mas dagdagan pa ng pansin at sama sama nating hubogin ang kakayahan ng kabataan para ang susunod na henerasyon ay mas maging mabuti, mas may alam at mas may kakayahan na paunlarin ang kanyang sarili at ang kanyang napapalibotan.

Mas malawak na ang ating kakayahan na magsalita, mas malawak na ang ating kakayahan na malaman ang katotohanan, sana naman ay mas malawak ang ating pagkakaintindi na mahalaga ang pagkilos para sa totoong kaunlaran ng bayan.

ISIP, SALITA AT GAWA paunlarin ang kakayahan para makamit natin ang totoong kasarinlan sapagkat tayo parin ay nakakulong sa madilim na sistema kung saan naghahari ang mga sakim at mga may kalapastangan sa sariling bayan.

Youth Leaders Champion Peace and Development at KKDAT Agusan Del Sur Provincial Summit 2024

In November 2024, the Provincial Capitol of Agusan Del Sur hosted the KKDAT (Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo) Agusan Del Sur Provincial Summit, a significant event focused on peace and development advocacy, anti-drug, and anti-terrorism efforts. The summit served as a platform to reunite the KKDAT council and strengthen youth leadership across the region.

The summit was attended by the KKDAT Caraga Regional Council, led by Vanessa Yaoyao, KKDAT President, alongside key representatives, including Shyra Mae Colantro of KKDAT Surigao Del Sur, Kim Valeri Tampon of KKDAT Dinagat Islands, and Neil Joer Jipos of KKDAT RMFB13. Their active participation highlighted the importance of collaborative leadership in addressing societal challenges and promoting peace.

Kim Valeri Tampon, President of KKDAT Dinagat Islands, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Dinagat Islands Police Provincial Office, especially to the Acting Provincial Director, JEROME A DELA CRUZ and KKDAT Provincial Coordinator PCpl YVONNE F SARSALE. Their dedication and support played a crucial role in empowering the youth to become advocates for positive change.

The event featured workshops and discussions aimed at enhancing youth involvement in community resilience, combating drug abuse, and countering terrorism. The summit underscored the vital role of young leaders in fostering unity, security, and sustainable development across the region.

The union of the KKDAT Regional Council during the summit was crucial in aligning the youth’s efforts toward common goals. By coming together, the council was able to create a unified front in advocating for peace, development, and the fight against drugs and terrorism. The summit provided a platform for sharing ideas, strengthening collaboration, and renewing their commitment to youth-driven solutions for community challenges. This unity not only amplified their collective impact but also ensured a more coordinated approach to tackling the issues that matter most to the youth in Caraga.

KKDAT FED PRESIDENT COURTESY MEETING WITH ACTING PROVINCIAL DIRECTOR OF DIPPO

November 20, 2024 - KKDAT Federated President, Kim Valeri A. Tampon paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Provincial Director of the Dinagat Islands Police Provincial Office, PCOL JEROME A DELA CRUZ.

They have discussed the revitalization of the Kabataan Kontra Droga At Terorismo members and officials in each municipality in the province. PCOL DELA CRUZ assures the full support of the PNP of the plans for the youth in the peacebuilding and security advocacy. Afterwards, President Tampon also visited to the Police Community Affairs Division Unit where he talked to PCPT ROLAN R PEDARSE, Asst Chief PCADU, about plans of KKDAT and other activities.

The discussion was ended with ways forward and current actions of both the PNP and the organization as partners in community initiatives.
