🌈✨ 10 Years of Pride, Unity, and Equality ✨🌈

The Province of Dinagat Islands, through the Provincial Population Office and the Provincial Federated LGBTQ+ Association (PROFLA), successfully celebrated the 10th Equality Day Celebration on June 4, 2026. This year's celebration carried the theme, “Bahagi Ka, Bahagi Ako, Tayo Ang Bahaghari: A Decade of Difference, A Decade of Impact,” marking ten years of promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality.

The event featured the Launching of the Rainbow Pedestrian Lane, Pride March Parade, Presentation of Muses, Advocacy Sessions, HIV Awareness and Testing, Election of New PROFLA Officers, Singing and Modern Dance Competitions, Gala Night, and Awarding Ceremony. These activities highlighted our shared commitment to embracing every voice, identity, and story within our community.

Our sincere gratitude goes to Provincial Governor Hon. Nilo P. Demerey, Jr., represented by Mr. John Philip P. Tan, Executive Assistant II; Hon. Doandre Bill A. Ladaga, Municipal Mayor of Loreto; Mr. Lucio P. Mercado, Jr. Provincial Population Officer; Ma. Jane A. Mayola, JD; and to all working committees, program coordinators, PPO STAFF, HIV COUNSELORS, HOSTS, PARTICIPANTS, DELEGATES, PARTNER AGENCIES, VOLUNTEERS, LORETO MDRRMO, GUESTS, and SPONSORS whose invaluable support made this celebration a success.

na may team na “Light the Legacy: Remember. Advance. Act. Keeping the Light Alive,” nagpasidungog sa kaisog, pagpangulo, ug sakripisyo sa mga taong adunay HIV ug sa mga advocates nga nakigbisog alang sa treatment, dignidad, pagkapantay-pantay, ug katungod sa tawo. Ang maong tema nag-awhag sa komunidad nga:

REMEMBER – Hinumdoman ang kinabuhi ug kontribusyon sa mga nawala tungod sa AIDS

ADVANCE– Padayonon ang kalamboan sa HIV education, prevention, treatment, ug innovation

ACT – Molihok aron tapuson ang stigma, diskriminasyon, ug AIDS-related deaths samtang gipadayon ang pakigbisog alang sa equality ug access sa serbisyo

Karong panahona, ang Candlelight Memorial dili lamang usa ka kalihokan sa paghinumdom. Isa usab kini ka panawagan alang sa panaghiusa, kaluoy, kahibalo, ug padayon nga aksyon aron matapos ang HIV ug AIDS sa tibuok kalibutan. Candles symbolize hope, love, remembrance, and the commitment to keep the fight against HIV alive for future generations.

A meaningful start toward a healthier and more informed community. 🌈❤️

The first-ever MOBILE HIV TESTING at Sito Glenda, Doña Helene, Basilisa during the Fiesta Desperas was successfully conducted through the collective effort and support of our community leaders and partners.

Our heartfelt gratitude to BM Sheen Marie C. Perez, BM Ali ADLAWAN, Mayor Ozzy Reuben M. Ecleo, Vice Mayor Manuelito N. Piodo, Jr., SB Bruce Allan Ecleo, and SB Junrey Mejos for supporting this initiative.

Special thanks as well to sir Loloy Quima (Purok President) and Patrict Laurente (DIPOAHC member) for organizing the activity and helping make this possible.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Provincial Population Office headed by sir Dondon Mercado Lucio P. Mercado Jr. and to Mam MJ Mayola Jane A. mayola,JD Supervising Administrative Officer IV & HIV/AIDS Program Implementer, for their unwavering support and commitment in bringing HIV awareness, education, and services closer to the community.

Special thanks also to the members of the Dinagat Islands Pool of Accredited HIV Counselors (DIPOAHC) for serving as part of the HIV Counselors Team and for their dedication in providing guidance, counseling, and support during the activity.

This may be just the beginning, but it is already a big step in promoting awareness, breaking stigma, and saving lives. 💪🌈

The successful conduct of the symposium on Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) included a session on preventing teenage pregnancy and HIV awareness, highlighted by HIV counseling and testing at Malinao National High School. The event was attended by 150 Grade 7–12 students and teachers.

Our heartfelt thanks to the DepEd Division of Dinagat Islands for allowing us to conduct activities in secondary schools province-wide, to Sir Rex Rojas for coordinating with Malinao NHS, to the teachers, especially to the PPO personnel, and to the DOH-accredited HIV counselor in Dinagat Islands, Sir Waltz Ibgos, and Madam Heart Ecleo Besin for their strong determination and commitment to joining the activity despite the unfavorable weather conditions.
