𝗔 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴
The Philippine Technological Council (PTC) achieved another historic milestone with its admission as an Authorized Member of the International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA) during the 2026 International Engineering Alliance (IEA) Meetings held in Cape Town, South Africa on June 10, 2026.
This achievement marks another significant milestone in the continuing advancement of the Philippine engineering profession towards its commitment to international standards of engineering competence and professional practice and eventually to greater international recognition and mobility.
This accomplishment follows PTC's historic admission as the 25th Full Member of Washington Accord on June 12, 2024 during IEAM 2025, which established international recognition of PTC's engineering accreditation system and affirmed the substantial equivalence of engineering programs accredited under its accreditation framework. Together, these milestones represent major steps in strengthening the global standing of Philippine engineering education and professional practice.
As an Authorized Member of the IPEA, PTC is now in a stronger position to advance initiatives that support the international recognition of Filipino engineering professionals and facilitate opportunities for professional practice across borders. This development reflects the confidence of the international engineering community in PTC's systems, processes, and commitment to upholding globally recognized standards of engineering competence.
While this achievement is a cause for celebration, it also brings renewed responsibilities. PTC remains committed to strengthening its registration policies and procedures (RPPs) and ensuring the robustness, integrity, and sustainability of its registration systems. Significant attention will continue to be given to evolving global matters within the IPEA and APEC Engineer frameworks especially those that relate to continuing assurance of substantial equivalence of non-Accord accredited programs, and, pre-Accord qualifications to the benchmarked Accord qualifications.
This milestone is the result of years of dedication, perseverance, and collaboration among PTC officers, member organizations, committees, volunteers, assessors, and numerous stakeholders who devoted countless hours to preparing, refining, and demonstrating the strength of the Philippine engineering accreditation and professional registration systems. The Philippine Technological Council extends its deepest appreciation to everyone who contributed to this achievement. Their commitment and hard work have helped open new opportunities for Filipino engineers and further strengthened the Philippines' position within the global engineering community. As PTC celebrates this achievement, it remains steadfast in its mission to promote excellence in engineering education and professional practice underpinned by ethical values that sustains human society.
