𝐂𝐉𝐂'𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 | 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 🌱

Can you spot the hidden spider among the yellow flowers? Resting silently upon a bright flower petal is a 𝐛𝐨𝐱𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐲𝐧𝐱 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 (𝘖𝘹𝘺𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘴 𝗌𝗉.) 🕷️ Unlike other spiders that build webs, they spend their lives as active predators that feed on insects, especially crop-damaging pests.

Despite their size, these arachnids have contributed significantly to local ecosystems by serving as a natural form of pest control. Although often overlooked, these predators act as a reminder that every creature, no matter how big or small, plays a crucial role in shaping a balanced ecosystem.

𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚. 𝑺𝒆𝒕. 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕! ☘️

Fellow EARTHlings were prepared and geared up, as we commenced the 2nd leg of 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙪𝙝𝙞 𝙨𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙠𝙝𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙣: the monthly mangrove growing activity. 🌳

Through grit and collaboration with the Junior High School ACO, the activity ended successfully, planting 𝟭𝟳𝟬 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 of varying species. It ended up with an area enlivened, leaving the muddy pits flourishing with newly planted seedlings. 🙌🏻🌱

🦎𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗗𝗔𝗬🦎

On this day, 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟒𝐭𝐡, we commemorate the scaly creatures roaming around our planet: the lizards! 𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘💡that there are plenty of species of lizards? From tiny geckos to komodo dragons, they bring diversity and wonder!🦎

Lizards also play huge roles in our ecosystems as they serve both as prey and predators. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐲 for animals significantly larger than them, and 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 to tiny insects such as mosquitoes and flies, helping regulate the life of the wild. 🌿

Elephants are majestic, highly intelligent animals that 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙨. As gentle giants of the wild, they 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙨, guide their herds across vast landscapes, and help maintain balanced habitats for countless other species.

Protecting these magnificent creatures requires our 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 and 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙨. By opposing poaching and preserving their natural homes, we can ensure they continue to roam free. Let's celebrate 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 by 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚.

🐈 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 🐈

From their gentle purrs to their playful energy, cats bring so much joy into our lives. They love to nap in warm spots, play with simple toys, and sit by our side when we are tired. Even though they are quiet animals, they have a big way of making us feel happy and loved every single day.

Loving cats also means being responsible pet owners. If we do not plan to breed them, we should spay or neuter our cats to keep them healthy and control the pet population. It is also best to keep them indoors or supervised so they do not wander off and hunt native wildlife, like birds and small animals. Let's celebrate our cute friends today by keeping them safe, happy, and kind to nature.

𝐂𝐉𝐂'𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 | 3𝒓𝒅 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 🌱

In one of the Kinabuhi sa Bakhawan sessions, one of our EARTHlings snapped a photo of a 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐥 (𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘎𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘥𝘢) 🐌 resting on a mangrove stem, a mollusk no larger than a grain of rice. Despite its size, it quietly supports the mangrove ecosystem by grazing on algae and feeding on decaying leaves and organic matter, helping recycle nutrients and maintain the health of the forest. Hidden among the roots and foliage, these small creatures are often overlooked — yet they play an essential role in sustaining one of nature's most productive coastal habitats.

Each mangrove snail displays subtle variations in shell color, pattern, shape, and proportion, making every individual unique. Their delicate appearance reflects the fragile environment they inhabit, reminding us that even the smallest organisms contribute to the balance of nature. As we explore these ecosystems, observing wildlife with care and leaving them undisturbed helps ensure that these quiet custodians continue to thrive.
