The Polytechnic College of Davao del Sur, Inc. was built not simply to offer degrees but to shape individuals who would carry the values of discipline, service, and excellence back into their communities.

Forty years is not just a milestone. It is proof that an education built on purpose and community endures, and for every student who has walked through its gates, PCDS is not merely a school but a beginning.

The Polytechnic College of Davao del Sur, Inc. gathered future nurses for a meaningful reminder that nursing is more than knowledge, skills, and technology—it is a profession built on character, compassion, and service.

In his message, Marc Shane B. Adeva, RN, MAN, MPH, DM, MPSA emphasized the values that every future nurse should carry: self-control, integrity, patience, compassion, humility, and a genuine willingness to serve.

“𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙞𝙙. 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢.”

His words remind us that every patient deserves to be treated with kindness, dignity, and respect, regardless of their situation. A nurse must learn to remain patient in difficult moments, honest when faced with mistakes, and professional even when challenged.

He also reminded future nurses of the importance of humility, because nursing is a continuous journey of learning and growth.

“𝙃𝙪𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚.”

More than a profession, nursing is a service to humanity—a calling to care, to understand, and to make a difference in the lives of others.

As we continue our journey toward becoming healthcare professionals, may we strive to become nurses who are not only competent in what we do, but compassionate in how we do it.

May we learn with humility, serve with integrity, and care with compassion—because the nurse we become begins with the character we choose to build today.
