A Dream Turned Into a Place of Hope: The Launching of the First G-Library
After months of planning, dedication, and the collective efforts of people who believe in the power of education, the Goodlife Community Cares Foundation Inc. (GGCFI) Education Sector has finally reached a meaningful milestone—the launching of its first G-Library at New Opon Elementary School in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
The story of the G-Library did not begin today. It began in 2025, when the former Chairman of the Education Sector planted the first seed of this meaningful project. What started as an idea to provide children with a better and more conducive place for learning slowly became a shared dream—a dream of creating a space where children could read, discover, imagine, and believe that their circumstances do not have to limit their dreams.
As leadership transitioned to the newly appointed Education Sector Chairman, Ann Karen Marhen, the dream was not left behind. Instead, it was embraced, carried forward, and given new strength. With the support of GGCFI, partners, donors, volunteers, teachers, and individuals who generously shared their resources, the vision for the G-Library continued to grow.
The journey was not simply about renovating a room or filling shelves with books. It was about restoring hope.
The space that would become the G-Library was once affected by the challenges brought by an earthquake. Today, it stands transformed into a place where children can once again feel that learning is something they deserve—a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment where a simple book can open a door to a thousand possibilities.
Every book placed on the shelf represents an opportunity. Every chair and learning material represents someone’s willingness to help. Every improvement in the room carries the kindness of people who chose to invest not only in a facility, but in the future of children.
For the children of New Opon Elementary School, the G-Library is more than a library. It is a place where a child can pick up a book and travel to places they have never seen, meet people they have never known, and imagine a future they have yet to experience. It is a place where curiosity is encouraged, dreams are nurtured, and learning becomes an experience filled with hope.
The successful launching of the first G-Library is also a reminder that meaningful projects are rarely accomplished by one person alone. It is the result of many hearts working together, each contribution becoming part of something greater.
From the former Education Sector Chairman who planted the first seed in 2025, to the new leadership that continued the vision, to the partners and generous donors who believed in the project, and to the teachers and school community who will care for and sustain it—this G-Library is a story of continuity, commitment, and compassion.
As the Education Sector celebrates this milestone, it also looks forward to a greater mission: to bring the spirit of the G-Library to more schools and more children who need a place to learn, dream, and hope.
Because sometimes, changing a child’s life does not begin with something grand.
Sometimes, it begins with one book, one room, one helping hand, and one person who believes that every child deserves a chance to dream.
Today, New Opon Elementary School has a G-Library.
But more than a room filled with books, it now has a room filled with possibilities.
And perhaps, someday, a child who first discovered the joy of reading inside this little library will grow up to become someone who changes the world.
That is the true heart of the G-Library—
building a better future, one child, one book, and one dream at a time.
