ON LENS | GCCFI JOINS JOINT COMMUNITY OUTREACH AT SITIO LATIL
On May 1, 2026 the Goodlife Community Cares Foundation, Inc. answered the call for unity of the Alpha "Achievers" Company- 39IB, together with the Youth for Peace Movement - Davao del Sur, and Bansalan Coop. The volunteers along with the Local Government Unit of Kiblawan trekked 4km to reach Sitio Latil, Brgy. Abnate, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.
Upon arrival, the team immediately began preparing and cooking spaghetti onsite, allowing volunteers to actively engage with community members while ensuring that freshly cooked meals were served to the beneficiaries, particularly the children.
In addition to the feeding activity, and in celebration of his birthday, one of our volunteers, Cristian John Teorima gave out donated essential items including clothing, toys, books, hygiene kits, and slippers, which he gathered for this event, said items were warmly received by the community.
Simultaneously, the Youth for Peace Movement โ Davao del Sur conducted their field research activities for PEDALS 1, gathering relevant data to support their ongoing community development initiatives, and donated Solar Lamps for the Sitio. At the same time, the Local Government Unit of Kiblawan carried out a needs assessment to identify priority concerns within the sitio and distributed corn fertilizer to assist local farmers in strengthening their agricultural productivity.
The foundation also printed and distributed photographs to the community members fron the first literacy program of YFPM DavSur. This simple yet meaningful gesture brought visible joy to the residents, as many expressed appreciation for having tangible keepsakes capturing moments of unity and shared service.
Overall, the activity demonstrated the value of collaboration among government units, civic organizations, and volunteer groups in reaching geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities. Despite the physical demands of the four-kilometer trek and the challenges of conducting activities in a remote setting, the collective efforts of all participating groups reflected a shared commitment to service, compassion, and community empowerment.
