Ngayong ika-12 ng Hunyo, buong pagmamalaki nating ginugunita ang ika-128 anibersaryo ng Araw ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas.

Sa araw na ito noong 1898, idineklara ang kalayaan ng Pilipinas mula sa pananakop ng Espanya sa Kawit, Cavite.

Ang makasaysayang pangyayaring ito ay sumasalamin sa katapangan at pagmamahal sa bayan na naging daan upang makamit ng bansa ang kalayaan.

Ang pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kalayaan ay pagkakataon upang alalahanin ang mga sakripisyo ng ating mga bayani, pahalagahan ang mga biyayang tinatamasa natin ngayon, at pagtibayin ang ating pananagutan sa paghubog ng mas maayos na kinabukasan para sa susunod na henerasyon.

The Grade 7 students of Diffun National High School participated in Project HIRANG: Freshmen Leadership Selection and Representative Election 2026 on June 11 to elect learner government representatives for the school year.

Organized by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), the activity aimed to provide freshmen with an opportunity to participate in an election.

Project HIRANG, which stands for Honing Integrity, Responsibility, and Advocacy through New Generation Leaders, was conducted to promote student participation and leadership among incoming Grade 7 learners.

The activity began with an orientation on the roles and responsibilities of curriculum representatives.

Learners then nominated their preferred candidate to represent the club and organizations, namely the Supreme Secondary Learner Government, Youth for Environment in Schools-Organization, Red Cross Youth, Barkada Kontra Bisyo-Council, Schools Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, and Girl Scout of the Philippines.

Candidates were allowed to introduce themselves and answer a question. Following the presentations, learners cast their votes by raising their hands.

After the voting period, the votes were counted and validated by the SSLG Secretary and SSLG officers.

The election concluded with the proclamation of the newly elected Grade 7 representatives and with an oath-taking ceremony.

According to the SSLG, the election sought to strengthen student representation and encourage responsible leadership among freshmen.

The newly elected representatives are expected to serve as the link between their curriculum and the learner government throughout the school year.

The Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) conducted the Project TUKLAS: Freshmen Campus Orientation and Tour 2026 on June 9 at Diffun National High School to orient incoming Grade 7 learners on campus facilities, school services, and important locations.

The activity aimed to help freshmen become familiar with the school campus before the start of the instructional block.

Project TUKLAS, which stands for ๐—งouring ๐—จs to ๐—žey ๐—Ÿocations, ๐—”ccess, and ๐—ฆpaces, was organized by the SSLG for all Grade 7 learners.

The SSLG officers oriented the learners and provided them with instructions and grouped students by section. Participants were then guided through a designated route around the campus.

During the tour, students were introduced to important facilities, including the SHS academic buildings, school gymnasium, principalโ€™s office, administrative building, and grade-level curricula. SSLG tour guides also explained where students may seek assistance when needed.

The activity concluded as tour guides escorted participants back to their assigned classrooms.

The program was supported by the school principal, Dr. Jennifer T. Tolentino; SSLG officers who served as tour guides; The Clique Bulb as photographers; the Boy Scouts of the Philippines as crowd controllers; and other organization officers.

According to the SSLG, the activity was conducted to help incoming Grade 7 students become familiar with the school campus and access important services more easily during their first days at Diffun National High School.
