This Independence Day, we celebrate not only the heroes who shaped our nation's past, but also the young people who are helping shape its future.

Across islands and communities, young Filipinos are leading in ways both big and small—sharing stories, caring for one another, pursuing their education, being involved in their communities, and imagining solutions to the challenges around them. Their voices, ideas, and actions are vital to the continued growth of our nation.

Nation-building is not a task reserved for tomorrow. It begins today, when young people are given the opportunity to participate, contribute, and lead. By investing in their learning, creativity, and potential, we help build a Philippines that is more inclusive, resilient, and hopeful.

As we commemorate the 128th anniversary of Philippine Independence, let us continue creating spaces where young people can dream boldly, take action, and become active partners in shaping the future of our country.

Empowered Nanays nurture stronger communities ✨

We believe that when a Nanay is empowered, an entire community grows stronger with her. Every year, we welcome Nanays from Barangay San Mateo and Barangay Abad Santos into our Internship Program, where they are given space to learn, grow, and discover new opportunities for themselves and their families.

“An Internship Program, kay isa sa mga pamaagi nga gihimo sa COR kauban ang Kolekbibo aron nga makahatag ug dungang tabang ug kahibalo para sa mga nanay sa pagpalambo sa nutrition ug kahimsog sa mga bata, sa matag pamilya, ug sa tibuok kumunidad” Joel Jane Algabre, Nanay Intern shares.

Together with our partner, , the Nanays take part in training sessions that teach practical skills such as budgeting, choosing nutritious ingredients, and preparing healthy meals. But beyond these lessons, the program also nurtures confidence, dignity, and hope, reminding each Nanay that her care and hard work have the power to shape the future of her children and community.

Since 2023, 14 Nanays have completed the program. And in every healthy meal prepared, every lesson shared at home, and every child cared for, we see the quiet but powerful impact of empowered Nanays. 💙

Mother’s Day Celebration just got extended!

We are grateful to share that on May 12, 2026, six (6) Nanay interns; Ace Mie I. Espinoza, Jessica Consigna, Mary Jane F. Algabre, Maridel A. Torillas, Micha D. Dumanhog, and Marialyn E. Formilles has successfully completed their internship with our partner, Kolekbibo. These Nanays came from Barangay Abad Santos and Barangay San Mateo, and during their time in the program, they learned valuable skills that they continue to practice today.

Nanay Maridel shared, “Mapasalamaton kami sa Kolekbibo sanan sa Calls Over Ridges, kay hamok amo tagkatun-an sanan naka ila sab kami sa uban nanay,” a reminder of how meaningful this journey has been for them.

Since 2023, a total of 14 Nanay interns have completed our internship program with Kolekbibo, supporting our shared goal of providing nutritious meals for children . This initiative is part of our long-term commitment to building sustainable opportunities that support the wellness of our communities. It also helps prepare for and strengthen our upcoming community kitchen project, which aims to further serve and uplift families in the area.

Where lives meet lives, hope begins.

We are proud to share the Calls Over Ridges 2025 Annual Report: Where Lives Meet Lives, a reflection of how communities, partners, and teams across countries continue to come together in creating meaningful educational impact for children and families.

This year’s report highlights the collective work of Calls Over Ridges Philippines, alongside our collaboration with 遠山呼喚, Calls Over Ridges Nepal, and Calls Over Ridges Malaysia. While each context is unique, we remain connected through a shared commitment to education, community empowerment, and child-centered development.

From local classrooms and creative learning spaces to cross-country partnerships and shared initiatives, this report captures how lives continue to meet across borders, strengthening one another through solidarity, learning, and service.

Meet our Host, Charles!

Charles Paul E. Alimpoos is a Siargaonon educator and development professional currently based in Cotabato City, BARMM where he works with non-government organizations to support the delivery of quality education in Geographically Isolated, Disadvantaged, and Conflict-Affected communities in the region.

When in Siargao, he helps people who intend to stay in the island for a while learn Sinurigaonon with the intention of equipping them with the language to connect better with the locals.

His research on the supernatural elements of the dayakit tree in the island and dissertation on the connection of folk stories and disaster risk reduction practices in Siargao. He believes that the island is a mystical sanctuary, capable of healing the heart’s innermost woes and he advocates for responsible and sustainable tourism that preserves its natural and cultural integrity.

We’re excited to introduce more about Tambayayong, where meaningful partnerships come to life through the voices and experiences of our trusted collaborators. 🌊
