Today marks a milestone for community empowerment in General Luna, Siargao.
We are proud to officially launch the Turnover Ceremony of the TricyKab – Tricycle Kabuhayan Program, spearheaded by the JVRF in partnership with Emcor and TTC Trimotors Technology Corporation.

As part of this initiative, we are delighted to hand over 10 brand-new Bajaj Maxima Z units to our local community partners, represented by three associations: General Luna TODA, General Luna MODA, and BCMC TODA.

This program is more than just providing vehicles—it is about creating opportunities. By supporting our tricycle drivers and associations, we aim to strengthen livelihoods, uplift families, and build a more sustainable future for our community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the JVR Foundation and the Local Government Unit of General Luna for their unwavering commitment to community development. Together, we continue to empower our people, nurture progress, and inspire hope.

Strengthening the Partnership in Nutrition through MOA Signing

We are honored to formalize our partnership with the JVRFJesus V. Del Rosario Foundation, Inc. and the DepEd Schools in Socorro, Bucas Grande Island in advancing child nutrition.

Our deepest gratitude goes to the JVR Foundation for their unwavering support in providing daily meals and milk to children in the islands nourishing not only their bodies but also their dreams.

Over the past two years of continuous feeding programs, we have witnessed the positive impact on the health and well-being of the children. With this renewed commitment, we look forward to reaching even more children in need.

Together, we can build healthier lives and brighter futures for the next generation.

The Reading for Excellence and Development Program was successfully launched in Brgy. Cansayong, Malimono through a meaningful partnership between the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) and Surigao del Norte State University – Malimono Campus through their READ-TO-LEAD Program.

This collaborative effort among the BLGU, the university, and partner NGOs aims to strengthen the reading abilities of our young learners and cultivate a culture of literacy within the Cansayong community.

Gawad Kalinga extends its heartfelt gratitude to the local heroes of Brgy. Cansayong, especially Barangay Captain Hon. John Besas, for welcoming and supporting this initiative for the community and with the community.

We also commend the dedicated teachers of Cansayong Elementary School for their commitment to go the extra mile in nurturing and empowering our learners.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to our partner from Surigao del Norte State University – Malimono Campus, Mr. Septeriano Senoc Jr., Project Leader and Program Chair of BSED English, for his leadership and dedication in bringing the READ-TO-LEAD Program to the community giving hope and a fighting chance to our young learners.

Together, we continue to build a community where every child has the opportunity to read, learn, and succeed.

Isla Sonata is set to launch very soon this coming April, organized by our very own SIPA – Siargao Island People’s Association Inc. 🎶

This exciting event will bring local music to life, celebrating the richness of Siargao’s culture and showcasing the incredible talent within our island. More than just a celebration, Isla Sonata aims to raise awareness of our vibrant cultural identity and serves as a prelude to the upcoming Bayani Challenge, where even more local talents will take center stage.

A heartfelt thank you to our local partner, SIPA, for embracing this initiative, and to the Local Government Unit of General Luna for their full support in making this event possible.

GK Pagatpatan Farm in Butuan City is envisioned to be more than just a garden it is being developed as a community-based demonstration farm under the Gawad Kalinga–Community Food Farm (GK-CFF) program. Located within its designated area known as Barangay Hapag Farm, the site is currently in the land preparation and organizing phase, laying the foundation for future initiatives in sustainable agriculture and community empowerment.

At the heart of this development is the active participation of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, who are engaged in the early stages of planning, organizing, and capacity-building. Their involvement ensures that once farming activities begin, families are equipped not only with essential agricultural skills but also with a sense of ownership, responsibility, and pride in the farm’s success.

With 229 active members already taking part, GK Pagatpatan Farm is steadily transforming into a living model of how communities can work together to achieve food security, livelihood opportunities, and sustainable development. 🌾 🌱

Gawad Kalinga continues to strengthen its partnership with the Department of Agriculture through the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), together with Agriculturist and NUPAP Focal Coordinator Sir Romer Amante and his team.

This collaboration aims to promote greater awareness of human health through proper nutrition while encouraging communities to take part in building innovative, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable food systems towards uplifting Filipino communities.

Gawad Kalinga joins the implementation of the ITANOM Project: Cultivating Sustainable Farming through Agroforestry and Regenerative Agriculture, funded under SGP-7 – The GEF Small Grants Programme of United Nations Development Programme Philippines, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Del Carmen.

As part of this initiative, Gawad Kalinga and SEED Philippines participated as stakeholders in the Agri-Innovations Ecosystem Mapping Workshop, contributing to the project’s Network Creation and Support Agri-Ecosystem component.
