On May 15, 2026 marked the closing of an important chapter and the beginning of a greater journey for the Pagsibol TVET Fellows Batch 2.

Over the past two (2) months, our fellows have completed their foundational and fundamental phase in Agriculture- a period filled with learning, reflection, hands-on experience, and personal growth. This phase has not only strengthened technical knowledge in sustainable agriculture but has nurtured confidence, leadership, and a deeper connection to culture, land, and community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all mentors, trainers, partners, and resource persons who generously shared their time, wisdom, and expertise. Your guidance has helped shape young Indigenous leaders who are now better prepared to go back to their families and communities to implement their capstone projects and innovation farm plans.

To our fellows, you carry with you the seeds of knowledge, responsibility, and hope. May you continue to grow as innovators, stewards of the land, and champions of sustainable and self-determined Indigenous development.

Daghang salamat to everyone who walked with us in this journey. Together, we celebrate not only completion, but transformation.

The Pagsibol TVET Fellows Batch 2 successfully presented 18 Capstone and Agricultural Innovation Plans, marking the culmination of their 60-days foundational training in Agriculture and Eco-preneurship.

The pitching showcased innovative, community-centered solutions addressing poverty, food insecurity, environmental challenges, and limited livelihood opportunities in Indigenous communities. Proposed initiatives included regenerative and climate-resilient farming, organic agriculture, agroforestry, livestock production, and Indigenous food systems โ€” blending Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSP) with science, technology, and entrepreneurship.

More than technical presentations, the activity reflected the growing leadership, creativity, and commitment of Indigenous youth as emerging changemakers. Through the Pagsibol TVET Program, fellows are not only gaining skills but building the vision to lead sustainable, resilient, and self-determined Indigenous communities.

For many years, access to water remained a challenge for the families of Sitio Mabuhay in Barangay Marilog, Davao City. Today marks a meaningful turning point for the community.

Through the help and collaboration of Hope International Development Agencyโ€“Canada, Assisi Development Foundation, the Pamulaan Center for Indigenous Peoples Education, and the Barangay Local Government Unit of Marilog, the people of Sitio Mabuhay have officially taken ownership of their Water System Project.

A Water, Sanitation, and Health (WaSH) training during the celebration strengthened community knowledge on hygiene and sustainable water management, bringing together community members in shared responsibility.

More than a project, this milestone represents healthier children, empowered families, and a thriving Matigsalug community moving forward with dignity and hope.

Indigenous youth leaders from British Columbia and Yukon, together with Indigenous youth leaders from the Philippines, gathered at IP-CARES, Sitio Contract for a meaningful Learning Exchange & Dialogue on May 13, 2026. This became a sacred space where stories, struggles, wisdom, and dreams met beyond borders.

This gathering reminded us that although our lands are separated by oceans, Indigenous Peoples share common journeys โ€” protecting culture, defending ancestral lands, strengthening identity, and nurturing the next generation of leaders.

Through dialogue circles, cultural sharing, dances, and songs, Filipino Indigenous youth and First Nations young leaders walked together in mutual learning by listening deeply, honoring traditions, and envisioning futures grounded in dignity, self-determination, and collective wellbeing. Truly, the learning exchange became a living testimony of global Indigenous solidarity, where leadership grows from community and hope is carried through relationships.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the First Nations of British Columbia, Global Affairs Canada, Embassy of Canada in the Philippines, Fides Foundation, and our partner Indigenous communities in the Philippines for making this powerful encounter possible. May this dialogue continue to plant seeds of collaboration, friendship, and shared action for generations to come.

๐ŸŒฑ From the territories of British Columbia/Yukon to the ancestral domains of the Philippines, we move forward together as Indigenous youth changemakers โ€” learning from one another and rising together.

There were days when Angie had to choose between meals, school requirements, and daily expenses. The support from Pamulaan may not have been measured in millions, but for a student counting centavos, it became hope he could hold on to.

The Pamulaan Center for Indigenous Peoples Education, Inc. proudly congratulates Angie Lastino, an Umayamnon, for completing his college education at San Agustin Institute of Technology in Valencia, Bukidnon.

For 4 years, through the Seeds of Hope Project of Pamulaan in partnership with Fides Foundation, Inc., Angie received educational support, leadership formation, cultural development activities, and meaningful participation in initiatives such as KaAmbitan: National Indigenous Young Leaders Congress. These experiences strengthened his Indigenous identity, strengthened his leadership, and deepened his commitment to serve his people.

Today, Angie carries more than a diploma. He carries knowledge, culture, and responsibility back to his Indigenous community.

Congratulations, Angie! May your journey continue to inspire and uplift your community for generations to come.

As part of the Foundational Phase Training of the Pagsibol TVET Program, our fellows engaged in a meaningful learning session on financial literacy facilitated by Ms. Mary Ann Concepcion.

The session equipped the youth with practical skills in managing personal finances, budgeting, saving, and effectively planning farm and livelihood projects. More than numbers and plans, the discussion highlighted the importance of discipline, responsibility, and wise decision-making in building sustainable livelihoods.

Our fellows were encouraged to see financial literacy not just as a skill, but as a foundation for independence and growth towards better management of their resources. This learning experience reminded everyone that true sustainability begins with wise stewardship, not only of the land, but also of resources and opportunities.

Strengthening practical agricultural skills remains at the heart of the Pagsibol TVET Programโ€™s Foundational Phase Training. Our fellows participated in an intimate learning session on coffee farming techniques facilitated by Mr. Bob Barrio, a coffee farmer from Bukidnon.

Through guided discussions and practical field exercises, the youth gained hands-on experience in establishing and maintaining coffee farms, including proper planting methods, pruning techniques, and sustainable farm care. The session emphasized that successful coffee production requires not only technical knowledge but also patience, discipline, and a deep connection to the land.

The training encouraged the fellows to view coffee farming as more than a livelihood. It is an opportunity to strengthen food systems, support family income, and contribute to environmental sustainability through agroforestry practices.

As part of the Foundational Phase Training of the Pagsibol TVET Program, our fellows strengthened their knowledge in cacao farming techniques through a learning session facilitated by Mr. Peter Cruz, a Cacao Farming Guru from Davao City.

The session combined theory and practice, including a hands-on laboratory on proper planting, pruning, and grafting techniques, equipping our young farmers with essential skills to establish productive and sustainable cacao farms. Through guided demonstrations and actual field application, the fellows learned how science, care, and patience contribute to healthy cacao trees and improved harvests.

More than technical training, the session helped the youth recognize cacao farming as a pathway toward sustainable livelihood, environmental stewardship, and community resilience. They were challenged to transform their farms into thriving agroforestry systems rooted in Indigenous knowledge and respect for the land.
