IN ACTION | BAGS OF HOPE: PAGLAUM PARA SA BATANG DATAS, YEAR 5 🎒📚💙
On 27 August 2026, JCI Durian City brought “Bags of Hope: A Back-to-School Outreach Project” to Datas Elementary School, Barangay Datu Salumay, Marilog District, Davao City, with the theme “Paglaum para sa Batang Datas, Year 5.”
Spearheaded by Project Chair Commissioner Jerlyn Arcuba, the project provided school supplies, slippers, and food items to 50 young learners as they prepared for another school year.
But this year, JCI Durian City wanted to go beyond a one-day act of giving.
As part of SUSTAIN 360, JCI Durian City donated bookshelves, academic books, and encyclopedias to Datas Elementary School—creating a lasting learning resource that students can access and benefit from for years to come.
The bookshelves will serve as a dedicated space for learning, while the academic books and encyclopedias will give students additional resources to read, research, explore, and expand their knowledge beyond their regular classroom lessons.
For us, this is what sustainable service means: not simply giving something that is used today, but creating something that continues to serve the community long after the outreach is over.
Moreover, our partners from the 27th Infantry “ACTION” Battalion provided free haircut services for the students, while the Civil-Military Operations Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao, Philippine Air Force extended security and manpower support.
We are deeply grateful to Bravo Company, 27IB, the Philippine Air Force, and the dedicated teachers of Datas Elementary School for helping us turn this initiative into a reality.
