MAY 14, 2026: BISPERAS SA KAPISTAHAN NI SAN ISIDRO
In celebration of the 73rd Fiesta of San Isidro Labrador – Datu Bago, the people of the said GKK held a procession.
Purpose of a Procession for the Fiesta
Religious Devotion
The procession honors the patron saint or religious figure the fiesta celebrates. Carrying the image through the streets is an act of faith, thanksgiving, and petition. It symbolizes the saint “visiting” the community and blessing homes, streets, and people.
Community Unity
It brings the whole barangay together across puroks, age groups, and families. People walk, pray, and sing together, which strengthens community bonds and shared identity.
Public Witness of Faith
The procession makes faith visible in public space. It’s a way for the community to openly express devotion, not just inside the church.
Cultural Tradition & Identity
Fiesta processions are passed down through generations. They preserve local customs, music, and rituals that make each barangay’s fiesta unique. It’s part of what makes the fiesta more than just a party.
Blessing of the Community
Many believe the procession brings blessings for good harvest, health, peace, and protection for the year ahead. Stopping at stations or houses along the route is often done for this reason.
The procession turns the fiesta into a living prayer and a community event. It’s both a way to honor the saint and to unite the people.
