PACSII and HPFPI participated in the GALLA Review and Planning held in Dakar, Senegal which brought together four countries involved in GALLA program in partnership with the Slum Dwellers International

During the three day activity, each country shared their GALLA initiatives, creating a valuable space form learning and exchange. Participants were able to gain insights from one another and identify key practices that can be adapted and shared with their respective communities.

One of the major highlights was Climate Change Adaptation, particularly from the experience of FSH ( Fèdèration Sènègalaise des Habitants). Due to the impacts and practical solutions such as:
1. Allocating spaces for green areas, which provide shade, food and additional income.
2. Using of alternative and sustainable housing materials icluding the roofs made from cow dung and hay, and walls made from clay.

Other countries also shared inspiring initiatives:

Zimbabwe focused on strengthening revolving funds loan system, along with tree planting and urban gardening and recycling.

Uganda highlighted partnerships with schools, engaging the youth in environmental preparedness through waste management, recycling and tree planting.

These experiences from our network SDI are highly valuable and relevant. They provide lessons and inspirations that can be adapted and shared with our communities in HPFPI to stregthen our own climate adaptation and community -led development initiatives.
