Mawab moves to bring X-ray, ultrasound services closer to residents

MAWAB, DAVAO DE ORO — The municipal government of Mawab is working to make X-ray and ultrasound services more accessible to residents as part of efforts to strengthen local healthcare services.

An ocular inspection was recently conducted at the municipal health facility with personnel from the Department of Health–Center for Health Development XI (DOH-CHD XI), the Municipal Health Office and the Municipal Engineering Office.

The inspection aimed to assess the facility and ensure that it meets the requirements for the planned diagnostic services.

Mayor Myrill Apit, MPA, identified the availability of X-ray and ultrasound services as one of the municipality’s priorities in improving healthcare access for Mawabeños. The initiative is being pursued with the support of Cong. Jhong Ceniza and Gov. Raul “RM” Mabanglo.

The planned services are expected to reduce the need for residents to travel outside the municipality for basic diagnostic procedures, particularly those requiring X-ray and ultrasound examinations.

The local government said the initiative forms part of its continuing efforts to bring essential healthcare services closer to the community and improve access to timely medical care.

“Serbisyong mabati sa tanan, para sa panglawas sa matag Mawabeño,” the municipal government said.

MAWAB, Davao de Oro — Mawab Mayor Myrill Apit has assured students, teachers, parents and school personnel that the municipal government is taking seriously a reported shooting threat circulating online that has caused concern at Lorenzo S. Sarmiento Sr. National High School.

Apit said she had personally coordinated with the chief of police regarding the incident, with an investigation now underway to identify the person behind the reported threat.

She said that once the individual responsible is identified, the person will be subjected to appropriate police action and legal proceedings.

While the investigation continues, Apit ordered heightened security at Lorenzo National High School and other schools in the municipality. Police personnel will be deployed in school areas to help ensure the safety of learners, teachers and school personnel.

The mayor also appealed to parents and guardians to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified information that could further fuel fear and confusion.

“Ang safety sa atong mga anak ug teachers dili nato i-compromise. Mao kini ang atong priority,” Apit said, emphasizing that the safety of students and teachers remains a top priority of the municipal government.

She also urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to immediately report it to authorities.

Apit said the municipal government will continue its close coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Education (DepEd), school officials and other concerned agencies to address the incident and strengthen security measures.

She likewise reminded residents to remain vigilant while avoiding panic.
