Applications are now extended until June 15, 2026.

In consideration of the recent earthquake that affected many communities across Mindanao and to provide interested participants with additional time to complete their applications, we have extended the application period.

Please also be informed that, due to adjustments following the recent earthquake, both event venues have been transferred and consolidated at the Bapa Benny Tudtud Auditorium, Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU).

We look forward to welcoming you there. See you!

Join us aboard the second run of the From Currents to Courage Project, an initiative that continues to foster informed, inclusive, and forward-looking conversations on maritime security, cooperation, and shared responsibility.

As the Philippines and the United States commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Philippines–United States diplomatic relations and the 75th Anniversary of the Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT), this project provides an opportunity to reflect on decades of partnership anchored in shared history, mutual interests, and a collective commitment to regional stability.

As an archipelagic nation, the Philippines remains inherently connected to its maritime domain, a vital space that shapes national security, economic resilience, and regional stability. With maritime spaces becoming increasingly complex and contested, challenges such as unauthorized maritime activities, gray-zone operations, rising geopolitical tensions, and the spread of misinformation and disinformation underscore the need to strengthen public understanding of maritime security. Through informed dialogue and meaningful engagement, Filipinos can contribute to fostering cooperation, safeguarding shared interests, and advancing stability in maritime spaces.

As part of this initiative, participants are invited to Toward Calm Waters: Dialogue and Cooperation in Maritime Spaces, a forum that will explore maritime security, regional stability, and the role of diplomacy and cooperation in addressing shared maritime concerns.

The forum will be followed by Exploring Maritime Cooperation: The Role of International Partnerships on Maritime Security, a high-level roundtable discussion featuring representatives from Canada, Australia, Japan, France, the United States, and the Philippines. The discussion will examine international cooperation, maritime partnerships, regional security challenges, and collaborative approaches to strengthening maritime capabilities and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

For the complete schedule and venue details, please refer to the event poster.

Apply here: https://bit.ly/FromCurrents2Courage or by scanning the QR code on the poster on or before June 15, 2026. Please be advised that virtual attendance via Zoom is fully supported, provided that participants complete their application prior to the event.

Set sail with us as we navigate toward stronger partnerships, informed dialogue, and shared responsibility in our seas.

This project is organized by the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, American Spaces Philippines, United States Government Alumni Association - Davao, Mariknows Philippines, and Ateneo de Davao University, in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of the Philippines, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Eastern Mindanao Command, AFP, Philippine Navy – Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao, Civil Relations Service Armed Forces of the Philippines, Civil-Military Operations School, CMOC AFP - 5th Civil Relations Group, Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Mindanao State University, MSU Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography, Notre Dame of Jolo College, and DMMA Student Organization of Marine Engineering.

πŸ“£ CALLING ALL SOUTHEAST ASIAN ORGANIZATIONS: Support the call to ASEAN leaders to end the plastic crisis and break free from fossil fuels!

Southeast Asia is facing a growing plastic and waste crisis. Landfill collapses and fires in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand show that our waste systems can no longer carry the burden of too much plastic, especially single-use plastics.

Plastic is also a fossil fuel problem. More than 99% of plastics are made from fossil fuels, and its production harms people, health, livelihoods, and the climate.

Communities should not pay the price for a crisis created by big, greedy corporations. ASEAN leaders must reduce plastic production, support a just transition to people-centered solutions like reuse, hold plastic polluters accountable, and move Southeast Asia away from fossil fuel dependence.

As ASEAN leaders meet in the Philippines this week, we call on organizations across Southeast Asia to stand with communities and demand action. Support the call πŸ‘‰πŸΎ act.gp/aseanleaders
