Women Studies and Resource Center

Women Studies and Resource Center A Davao-based non-governmental organization that aims to empower women in Mindanao through research, education and training, and advocacy work

The Women Studies and Resource Center (WSRC) was formed in 1982 when a collective of women engaged in social development work and social research met to discuss the situation of women in Mindanao at the height of the Marcos dictatorship. This women’s collective was convinced that the concerns and issues facing Mindanao women were given little attention and determined that a systematic collection o

f data on women’s conditions was needed to make Mindanao women’s invisibility and marginalization a thing of the past. Thus, a preliminary investigation was conducted by this women’s collective in partnership with the Mindanao and Sulu Secretariat for Social Action (MISSSA). The study was conducted from November 1982 until 1983 and its findings were later published as "Voices of Mindanao Women". The women’s collective that pioneered this systematic research on Mindanao women later evolved to be the Women Studies and Resource Center, Inc. and became officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in November 29, 1983. WSRC is a non-stock, non-profit, non-governmental institution that aims to empower the women of Mindanao through research, education and training, and advocacy work on concerns that are of critical importance to women.

Join us in the fight against gender-based violence — even in the digital space! ✊🌐

As part of the series of activities for Women's Month, GABRIELA-Southern Mindanao, together with Gabriela Youth Davao and other Davao-based women and children's rights advocacy organizations, will be holding a forum on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence.

EVENT DETAILS:
📆: February 28, 2026 | 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
📍: 8th Floor CCFC Building, Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City

The said event will also feature a discussion on the Expanded Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Bill (House Bill 4779).

While we see technology as a vital tool in our daily life, we must also see how it is being used to exploit women and children. In this light, we are inviting everyone to attend and participate in the forum-discussion. Let us educate and promote the protection of women and children from all forms of abuse—especially in digital or online spaces!

The Defend NGOs Alliance strongly denounces the conviction of community journalist Frenchie Mae Cumpio and lay worker Marielle Domequil, a ruling that lays bare how the Philippine justice system has been weaponized to criminalize dissent, silence truth tellers, and terrorize civil society into submission.
