Davao City's Premier All Lady Chapter since 1985

Established as the Premiere All Female Chapter of Davao Region since 1985

Twenty five years ago, in March of 1984, the first all-female Jaycee chapter in Davao was born. The name Daba-Daba which means Region of Fire was aptly thought of as the organization’s name to depict the fiery zeal and enthusiasm of its members as they pursue excellence in l

eadership. The idea of creating an all female Jaycees was conceived in a dark corner of a noise-laden but popular discohouse in Davao City during that time. It was on the eve of January 1984 then when the Davao Jaycee Senate held their Annual Induction Night. A group of young vivacious ladies composed of Christine Rizardo, Butch Tamayo, Umber Garcia and Bing-Bing Ceniza were invited in that fellowship night by the Officers and Members of the Davao Jaycees at the One Down Disco, Apo View Hotel. In the course of the fellowship, Christine Rizardo inquired from the Philippine Jaycee Senate LO President, Ray Bautista what the Jaycees is all about and explored possibilities of organizing an all-female organization. Christine opined about a lot of untapped energies and resources among the female populace when topped and developed could be a source of a spark plug that would inspire further women activities now and in the future. JCI LO President Ray challenged the Davao Jaycees, being the pioneering Jaycee Chapter in Davao City to take the lead in extending a new chapter. Then Davao Jaycee LO President James Lee immediately concurred with this Board (who were all in the disco) and right there and then created a Committee composed of the following:

JCI Senator Jess Maningo as the Chairman for the Extension Committee (deceased)
JCI Senator George Misa for the Chartering
JCI Senaotr John Enerio for the Publicity
JCI Senator Ony Partoza as Liason Officer and
JCI Senator Bhabs Guinoo as an Ex-Officio Member

On February 4, 1985, Christine Rizardo, Butch Tamayo, Rona Ramos, Umber Garica and Jocy Tagle convened to brainstorm on possible actions to be taken and drafted a proposal for the Davao Jaycee’s perusal and approval. On February 10, Christine Rizardo met with the Board of Directors of Davao Jaycees and together with Extension Chairman, the late JCI Senator Jess Maningo presented the proposal to the Board which was unanimously approved for immediate implementation. What ensued thereafter were series of recruitment and training activities that propelled the initial lady membership of 35. By March 15, 1985, the Davaoena Daba-Daba Jaycees created an all-female organization an extension of the Davao Jaycees with JCI Senator Jocelyn Tagle-Ledesma as its chapter’s first LO President-elect. On the 13th of July 1985, the chapter was formally organized and accepted in the Philippine Jaycees as they subsequently held their Charter Night Presentation.
