The ASEAN Declaration on the Empowerment of Youth in Climate Action and Disaster Resilience was adopted during the ASEAN 2026 PH in Cebu, Philippines.
Part of the major provisions is for member states to:
- AFFIRM our collective commitment to support youth participation and leadership at both national and regional levels, in climate and disaster risk management, including through the engagement in ASEAN related activities and in decision-making processes through multi-stakeholder platforms in accordance with national laws and policies.
With this, the International Dialogue Centre - KAICIID’s investment to sustain the collaboration with the มูลนิธิ สกพ. - IBHAP Foundation and Cerita Caravan is in the right track in empowering more Southeast Asian Youth to actively engage in collective climate action starting with the pilot cohort of Cerita Kita Fellows in Yogyakarta and the Youth-led Storytelling for Peace in the midst of Climate Crisis conducted in Bangkok last year and to be continued in the coming Dialogue in Action: Strengthening Youth Leadership for Climate Action in Southeast Asia this June 2026.
