What began as a steady start at the beginning of the year has turned into an unprecedented nationwide sweep. In the recently concluded second quarter nationwide evaluations by AWS Student User Group Philippines, the AWS Student Builder Group โ UP Mindanao (AWSSBG UPMin) emerged as a dominant force, outperforming more than 50 Student Builder Groups (SBGs) and Learning Communities (LCs) across the country to bring home five major awards.
Following our double victory in Q1, the group raised the stakes across every operational and technical metric. AWSSBG UPMin stood at the front of the pack, securing: Most Technical Club, Most Outstanding Sustainability Club, Most Outstanding Career Growth Club, Most Outstanding Diversity Club, and 2nd Most Impactful Club.
The outcome was nothing short of a statement. By dominating four distinct awards and taking second for overall impact, AWSSBG UPMin proved that world-class cloud innovation isn't just thriving in the regionโit's leading the national stage.
This sweeping success highlights the group's relentless drive to turn ambitious ideas into actionable initiatives. Throughout the quarter, the group balanced technical workshops and study sessions with hands-on sustainability practices, all while building open pathways and cultivating builders from every background. Rather than focusing solely on theoretical knowledge, AWSSBG UPMin created an opportunity where members bring real solutions to life, elevating local builders onto the national tech stage.
As the second half of 2026 gets underway, the bar has officially been raised. With five new achievements in hand and a growing network of builders across Mindanao, AWSSBG UPMin has made one thing unmistakably clear: the future of Philippine cloud computing is being forged in the south, and as they continue to build, the sky is only the beginning.
