There goes the pounding of the drums, signifying a booming beginning to the second day of the 2025 Intramurals. As the echoes of their cheers and the blaring of their horns fill the air, a deep sense of togetherness is being forged in stone, making their mark in history as people bonded by excellence and loyalty.
People they may not know and people they may not have batted an eyelash to during their normal day-to-day on campus now fight for their team's honor, have sacrificed their time and their effort to make sure their cheering is to no waste. They now bang the drums in tune to the beat of their player's hearts, placing a deeper meaning in their unity. The cries of "Defense! Defense!" all with disregard of propriety show that they intend not to demoralize their opponents but to satisfy the urge to fight to protect their Allied Synergy that they have painstakingly built through many sleepless nights, through many hours of training and through all the many hours of strategizing and revising.
Such is the core of a true SPCian. In all that they do, they embed excellence into it. To show up with the bare minimum would be unacceptable, for since they have set foot in this school; all they have been taught to do was be their best, may it be for their future patients or may it be for themselves.
And like the Earth, like Terra -- their resilience and their might never waver under dire circumstances. For the earth might shift and the earth might crumble, but it still always carries life. Like the river that carves the ground, not by a one time big time force but by its consistency in being there everyday until it forms its flow, such are these students who care to show up and who care to be there even when the going gets tough. Such are these students who persevere in all aspects of their lives. Look left and look right, you would see no difference in attitude and only the color of their shirts.
To the shallow viewer, victory is when the bloodshed has ceased and only one is emergent, but those who are truly great in spirit and in nature recognize that victory had already been achieved when all these strangers had come together to become one under the banners of their respective teams. To bang the drums in tune to their hearts.
To breathe life into their screams, dying to make a legacy that would outlive them. The thirst for something more and their strive for something more would be the tell-tale of their greatness that they would pass on to the next generations and would be the light that would guide them all through their lives.
And as the beat of the drums fade away, their presence and the message they embody would remain, setting a precedent for the next year and the year after that.
