Holy Saturday sits in the weighty and sacred space between the cry of the cross and the joy of the empty tomb. It's the day of the Great Silence, a time when the world feels empty and the promises of God lie buried beneath the weight of stone and soil. Today, we're invited to sit in the "in-between" time, the uncomfortable silence of waiting when the old has died away but the new has yet to emerge. It's a day to honor our grief, our doubts, and the silence necessary when God feels silent.
In the silence, we're reminded to reflect on our faith when there's no sign of hope in sight. Holy Saturday reminds us that when we can't see God working in our lives, He's busy in the depths, tilling the soil of our hearts and preparing the ground for a miracle we can't yet conceive.
Today, we're reminded to sit in the silence with the weary and the waiting, to learn that the darkness of the tomb isn't the end of the story but the womb of the resurrection.
Today, we're reminded that silence isn't the absence of sound but the beginning of life, and in the silence of death, the seeds of life begin to stir.
