From chairing the 2025 award-winning JCI Davao ECOTONE Project, which earned recognition from the Mindanao level to the national and global stage, to achieving excellence in the academe, JCI Davao continues to exemplify the impact of science and service.

Every child and every family deserves access to clear, reliable, and compassionate healthcare information.

In partnership with MOHSG59, Kids Cancer COMPASS PH is a student-led public health initiative that improves access to understandable medical information for pediatric cancer families. Through centralized guidance, multilingual educational resources, and family support, we aim to help families navigate their treatment journey with greater confidence and hope.

Because no family should face childhood cancer alone. 🎗️

𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗧𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗯𝗼 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟮 🎨🌿

Now in its second year, LikhaTutubo continues to champion the preservation of indigenous identity by empowering the next generation of Aeta learners. Through meaningful learning experiences, creative expression, and cultural appreciation, the project helps Junior High School students of M. Guloman Integrated School recognize that 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱, 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻.

This year, last June 11, LikhaTutubo reaffirmed its mission of helping young indigenous learners 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻 and 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲. Through its highlight mural painting activity, Aeta students transformed their stories, traditions, and aspirations into vibrant works of art across their campus, proving that the most meaningful way to preserve culture is to continue creating it.

MARLON C. SUELTO
PhD in Environmental Science

As a geologist and environmental scientist, Marlon led over 20 transformative initiatives with JCI Davao that promoted biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource use, and youth empowerment. These include the Grab Crab sustainable livelihood project, Project Malaya for wildlife protection, and PawiCamp. He also chaired the Ecotone International Conference and serves as a co-investigator for the global Bio+Mine Project, developing sustainable rehabilitation strategies for legacy mines.

He guided these comprehensive projects from conceptualization to ex*****on, translating his UPLB education into impactful public service.

Marlon's dedication proves that science is most powerful when it addresses local realities and empowers communities to deeply recognize the essential connection between environmental quality and human well-being.
