Together We Aided 150 Families — But Hundreds More Still Wait For Support

On May 22, 2026, Tambayan Center for Children’s Rights Inc. together with Davao Medical School Foundation-Institute of Primary Health Care (DMSF-IPHC) distributed relief goods to 150 Bajau families affected by fire. Each family received basins, pails, used clothes, rice packs, cooking pots, underwear, sleeping mats, blankets, combs, bath soap, and laundry soap.

Our deepest gratitude goes to DMSF-IPHC — your generous contribution and partnership were vital in bringing immediate aid and comfort to these families. Thank you for standing with the community in need. 🙏

We also thank Manuel Roxas Elementary School for allowing us to use their venue for the distribution. BUT THE NEED IS FAR FROM OVER
More than 400 families — including Bajau households and other fire survivors — still have no safe shelter, lack essential cooking utensils, and have no regular food supply. Worse, they remain in areas prone to yearly fires, living in constant fear of losing everything again.
They need more than temporary relief — they need a safe, secure place to live, free from recurring danger.
🤝 WE CALL ON YOUR GENEROSITY
Please help us provide food, kitchen supplies, and construction materials. Most importantly, advocate for and help secure permanent, safe shelter for these families. Every donation and support matters.
Message us here to extend help. Thank you!

“It felt like our own stories were being told on stage.”

What happened at the Barangay 22-C covered court on May 5, 2026—Critique Day—was more than a community performance. Kadalanan sa Paglaum brought audiences face-to-face with the realities many children silently endure on the streets — and the reactions afterward were impossible to ignore.

From emotional audience reflections to powerful critiques on child rights and social responsibility, the production sparked conversations that extended far beyond the stage.

Why did this performance leave such a strong impact on its viewers?

🎭 From the Streets to the Stage: Kadalanan sa Paglaum
What does survival look like when you’re only 14?
For Vincent, Yoseph, and Remy, it means choosing between school and work, carrying family burdens too early, and finding ways to survive life on the streets.
Their stories—shaped by poverty, sacrifice, and difficult choices—reflect the lived realities of many young people growing up on the margins.
Now, their voices take center stage in “Kadalanan sa Paglaum,” a community theater production that transforms hardship into powerful storytelling.
Performed by children in street situations, the play delivers a raw, real, and deeply human portrayal of resilience, struggle, and hope.
✨ More than a performance, it is a mirror of society—and a message that even in the hardest circumstances, there is still a pathway to hope.

Through the strong collaboration and partnership of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Tambayan Center for Children’s Rights, Inc., and the Ateneo de Davao University School of Law law interns, this meaningful activity was made possible.

It provided them with the opportunity to reflect on how they can be more empowered and identify appropriate actions based on their individual circumstances.

The session was informative, easy to understand, and supported by practical examples that enhanced the learning retention of the Women PDLs.

After the informative discussion, the interns also brought simple gifts and snacks for the participants.

Refreshed and Recharged: Our Unforgettable Self-Care Camp!
Imagine a place where the world's worries fade, and your spirit finds room to breathe. That's precisely what we experienced at our recent Self-Care Camp at Mary Mediatrix Hermitage in Makilala (Feb 19-21). This profoundly moving event, a testament to the vision of Tambayan for Children's Rights Inc., was far more than just a camp—it was a sanctuary for healing, connection, and profound personal discovery. Here, nestled in nature's gentle embrace, hearts found solace among the whispering trees.
We bravely opened ourselves, sharing our deepest stories, our quiet joys, and the burdens we carried. It was a powerful reminder that even in vulnerability, there is immense strength, and that every tear shed is a sacred step towards peace. Under the compassionate guidance of Fr. Gene Gilos, we learned the liberating art of letting go.
We released the grip of stress, old pains, and lingering fears, making space for an abundance of love, joy, and renewed hope to flourish within us. His words resonated deeply, planting seeds of self-worth: "You are truly one-of-a-kind and special, both inside and out. Always be authentically yourself and stand firm in what you believe in."
This journey lovingly underscored that every individual's story is precious and unique, and that our coming together in this sacred space was truly destined. We didn't just depart with newfound tools for nurturing our well-being; we left with spirits revitalized, hearts brimming with cherished memories, and the unbreakable bonds of a compassionate community.
To every single person who contributed to this camp—participants, volunteers, and especially our generous supporters and partners—your impact resonates deeply. You've helped write an unforgettable chapter of healing and empowerment. Let's continue to champion spaces where every soul can thrive, overflowing with life and radiating their inherent goodness!
