SDRRM/DPRAT Club Recruitment and Screening Day

Approximately 30 students expressed their interest in joining the SDRRM/DPRAT Club and participated in the first day of the recruitment and screening process.

The activity began with an orientation, where the applicants were introduced to the club's objectives, responsibilities, expectations, and the importance of being a member of the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) and Disaster Preparedness and Response Action Team (DPRAT).

Following the orientation, the applicants took a written examination designed to assess their basic knowledge, critical thinking, and mental preparedness for disaster risk reduction and emergency response activities.

The final part of the activity consisted of a physical fitness assessment, where the students underwent a series of light physical exercises to evaluate their endurance, agility, coordination, and overall physical capability.

Due to time constraints, some portions of the physical assessment were not completed and were postponed to the following day.

The names of the students who successfully passed the first day of the screening process will be officially posted on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Conduct of the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026

Mahayag National High School successfully conducted the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026 on June 18, 2026, at exactly 9:00 A.M.

As this was the first earthquake drill conducted for the current school year, some confusion was observed among the students regarding the proper evacuation procedures. Delays also occurred during the evacuation process, as some participants were not fully committed to taking part in the drill.

Following the drill, an assessment and evaluation were conducted by the School Head, School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Coordinator, SDRRM Responders, and teaching personnel. Based on the findings, a repeat earthquake drill was conducted for Grade 7 and Grade 8 learners to reinforce the proper evacuation procedures and improve the use of the designated evacuation routes.

The evaluation also identified several hazards along the existing evacuation routes and within the designated evacuation areas. Consequently, additional meetings, assessments, and planning sessions will be conducted to review and implement necessary improvements to the school's evacuation plan, routes, and evacuation areas.

Overall, the earthquake drill was conducted satisfactorily and successfully achieved its primary objective—to identify gaps and weaknesses in the school's emergency preparedness and response procedures. The observations and lessons learned from this activity will serve as the basis for further improvements.

To enhance the preparedness of both learners and school personnel, Mahayag National High School will continue conducting school-based earthquake drills and other disaster preparedness activities in the future.
