"Sa Pag-Iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa"

FIRE PREVENTION MONTH 2026

Ngayong buwan ng Marso, nakikiisa ang Office of the Vice President (OVP) sa pagdiriwang ng Fire Prevention Month bilang pagpapalakas ng kamalayan at pagkilos ng bawat Pilipino laban sa panganib na dala ng sunog.

Bitbit ang mensaheng, “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa,” ipinapaalala na ang ating kaligtasan ay hindi lamang tungkulin ng mga bombero at ng mga awtoridad—ito ay panawagan sa bawat tahanan, paaralan, opisina, at komunidad na maging mas maingat, mas handa, at mapagmatyag.

Sa panahon ng tag-init kung kailan mas tumataas ang insidente ng sunog, mahalagang:
✅ Regular na suriin ang mga kable at electrical connections.
✅ Iwasan ang pag-o-overload ng saksakan at paggamit ng depektibong appliances.
✅ Itabi nang maayos ang mga madaling magliyab na materyales.
✅ Turuan ang bawat miyembro ng pamilya ng tamang fire safety at evacuation plan.
✅ Alamin ang mga emergency hotline at pinakamalapit na fire station.

Ang tunay na pagiging handa ay hindi lamang sa oras ng trahedya, kundi sa maagap na pag-iwas dito.

Rapelling Session 2

RAPELLING ACTIVITY
January 10, 2026

Earlier this afternoon, Mahayag NHS - SDRRM embarked on a thrilling school based rapelling exercise. The activity aimed to challenge our physical and mental limits and promote teamwork.

The SDRRM-Coordinator led the said activity. He gave a short briefing on equipment, safety procedures and demonstrated proper rapelling techniques.

With gear in place, lend to us by our ever supportive Brgy. Mahayag BDRRM headed by Kag. Benjie Sugui, we took turns descending the second floor of Building 8 of Mahayag NHS. The rush of adrenaline, fun , and enjoyable companions made the experience unforgettable.

The activity pushed us out of our comfort zones, teaching us to trust our equipment, our team, and ourselves.

Furthermore, there will be more rapelling activities will be conducted to strengthen the skills of our responders that will equip us in a more effective response in high element scenarios.

KAAKIBAT CIVICOM FIRST QUARTER MEETING and MAHAYAG NHS SDRRM MEMBERSHIP & ORIENTATION.
January 10, 2026 (Saturday) 9am - 12nn

Mr. Erick Genelsa, the Vice-President for Operations of KCIM-264 Air Based Chapter, organized a meeting earlier this morning at Mahayag National High School - Davao City; a timely opportunity to have a formal membership of our School Responders and to promote volunteerism in various pertinent events and activities in the city.

This is a great leap of collaboration between our school DRRM and a national organizations like Kaakibat Civicom Inc. Mindanao.

This is just the beginning of a strong bond among our stakeholders and real world exposure, for the benefit our school and to the community.

Earthquake struck at davao city earlier today Jan. 7, 2026 at 11:03AM with Intensity Level 2. Based on reports, the epicenter is located at Manay, Davao Oriental with a Magnitude of 6.7.

Rapid assessment was conducted immediately by the SDRRM Responders with the help of Brgy. Mahayag Responders. Based on initial assessment, NO damages or any hazards found cause by the said earthquake.

Thus, it was concluded that the classrooms and offices are safe to use and instructed the students and personnels to have their early lunch and resumed the classes at 1:00pm.

Students and personnels are safe.
