✨🤝 An intimate Ceremony of Recognition and Commitment to Collaborative Leadership honored Deputy Mayor Pamikeren Latip P. Arumpac Jr., Bangsa Iranun, on his installation as the new Chairperson of the Davao City Muslim Affairs Office (DCMAO).

The gathering brought together distinguished leaders from government, religious institutions, civil society, women and youth organizations, and the Muslim community, led by former Commissioner, NCMF - Dalisay Macadawan, President, ALIAH Center for Call and Guidance, Shakyh Alim Abdulrahman Caderao - Chief Religious Adviser & Shari'ah Consultant and Executive Director Khalid Gorospe of MARIAM Inc respectively, also Sheikh Eisa Javier (SALAM Pilipinas), and other partners.

The ceremony concluded with meaningful dialogue, reaffirming a shared commitment to peace, solidarity, Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), and the empowerment of Muslim communities.

Yesterday, MARIAM Inc. joined the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) XI Learning Visit with representatives from national government agencies, RDC XI Sectoral Committees, State Universities & Colleges, LGUs, the private sector, NGOs, and CSOs.

The delegation visited Davao City's PCW-accredited GAD Local Learning Hub, including the GK Ray of Hope Female Dormitory for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and the Child Minding Center, followed by a sharing of best practices. MARIAM congratulates Davao City, especially the Integrated Gender and Development Division (IGDD), for its exemplary gender-responsive initiatives.

MARIAM also underscored the importance of cultural sensitivity by advocating for the right of Muslim women PDLs to wear the hijab and for Muslim women not to be required to remove their hijab as a condition for employment in business establishments, department stores & supermarkets.

Thank you to RGADC XI, DOST XI, DEPDev XI, and the IGDD of Davao City for the excellent support and hospitality.
