A Declaration of Actual Use (DAU) ensures that registered trademarks or trademarks under application are being actively used in commerce, as trademarks are intended to distinguish goods and services in the market.

It prevents "warehousing" or the practice of registering trademarks without intention to use them. Failure to file the DAU can result in the cancellation of the trademark registration.

Copyright protection exists from the moment of creation and registration and deposit of your copyrighted works is voluntary. However, there are benefits in registration and deposit as it certifies the existence of your work and may considerably assist you in cases of dispute.

Aside from looking after our rights, it is also our duty to respect the works of others. The adaptation, recording, and integration into the Squid Game 2's soundtrack are original works created by Jung Jae-il, the musical director of Squid Game 2. His adaptation is considered a derivative work that is granted a separate and distinct copyright protection from the original work.
