Furthermore, the activity was conducted in collaboration with the Philippine Army (PA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), Local Government Unit (LGU) of Maco, local fisherfolks, and Bantay Dagat of Maco.

The activity aimed to support the rehabilitation and conservation of coastal ecosystems, strengthen natural defenses against coastal erosion and storm surges, and provide essential habitats for marine and coastal species.

The conduct of an Oil Spill Awareness and Response Seminar and Exercise plays a vital role in enhancing the preparedness, capability, and environmental responsibility of ports, depots, oil mills, refineries, terminals, power plants, and other industries that handle oil and hazardous substances.

This activity aims to educate personnel on the causes, risks, and environmental impacts of oil spills while providing practical training on effective spill containment, recovery, and response procedures. Through awareness seminars and hands-on exercises, companies can strengthen their emergency response systems, improve inter-agency coordination, minimize operational disruptions, and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

By investing in preparedness and response training, organizations demonstrate their commitment to protecting marine ecosystems, coastal communities, company assets, and public safety. Preparedness is not only a regulatory requirement but also a corporate responsibility that helps prevent minor incidents from becoming major environmental disasters.
