🗣 It's that time again — 𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘄𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 is here! 🌸

Living in Japan (or planning to?) means learning more than just greetings — 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 matter too! This month, we're tackling a question every foreigner eventually needs to ask.

📝 Today's phrase：「ごみはどこに出したらいいですか？」
Translation: "Where should I put out the trash?"

Trash sorting in Japan isn't a joke, burnables, non-burnables, recyclables, specific pickup days — get it wrong and you might just become the talk of the neighborhood association 👀 So let's make sure that's 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂!

This phrase might sound small, but it's one of those 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 that locals actually use and appreciate hearing from foreigners trying their best. 🇯🇵💬

𝗠𝗚𝗔 𝗞𝗔-𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗚𝗨𝗡, 𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗚𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗗!🥇✨

On August 4, 2026 (Tuesday), Ms. Princess Jean Ingay, a 3rd Year ABIS-JLS student of Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku, proudly represented the university onsite in Nagoya, Japan during the World Youth Meeting (WYM) 2026. Together with her teammates Ms. Honey Mae Sareno, Ms. Kristel Ann Edic, and Ms. Lexa Julla Alan, proudly brought home the Gold Award at the World Youth Meeting (WYM) 2026.

Inspired by this year's theme, “SDG 4: Youth Voices Shaping a New Era,” the team, in collaboration with International Studies students from Nihon Fukushi University (Japan), presented their innovative project entitled “𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀.” The proposal offered a meaningful solution that promotes accessible education, cross-cultural collaboration, and youth empowerment beyond national boundaries.

The I.S. Sh**unate extends its heartfelt congratulations and deepest appreciation to our representatives for this remarkable achievement. Your success is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for the entire MKD community. Having our students represent the university on the international stage reflects the knowledge, skills, and global perspective that we strive to cultivate as International Studies students.
