BAHANDI's vision and mission lies in the empowerment of its members and its families through sustainable technologies and endeavors geared towards development at the ground level. BAHANDI is an agricultural foundation of 60,000 farmers, fisherfolk and other marginalized members in the Philippines. The membership is based in Davao City, Region 11 and nearby provinces and regions in Mindanao and the
Visayas. BAHANDI was first organized 1990 as a loose organization of self-help and assistance to fellow farmers and fishermen. In 2002, BAHANDI was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. In December 2010, its Board of Trustees approved a reorganizaion in the hope of reinvigorating its organization, plans and programs. Among others, it signed a tri-partite Memorandum of Agreement with Visayas State Univertisty-based Philippine Rootcrops and Ruya Biohitech (now Ruya Agri-Biz Development) to begin an agri-based program for cassava and kamote aimed to help its farmer-members. In recently began a nursery and germplasm bank in Catigan, Davao City that will be accredited by the BPI to supply high-yielding planting materials. The objective is to disseminate varieties and farm technologies with higher yields, by as much as 300%-400%. Its microfinance facility is now being availed of by its qualified members. This is intended to assist its marginalized but enterprising members while building communities and strengthening social relations. The objective is to ultimately empower, sustain and upgrade the quality of life of its members. Founder Lino Trinidad continues galvanize its member through his regular radio program over Radyo ng Bayan DXRP Mondays through Saturdays from 430am-6am and 10am-12noon. Eduard Trinidad, Chairman and President spearheads innovative programs for the welfare and emancipation of the members and their families. BAHANDI continues to draw on self-help and bayanihan spirit amongst its members. It pursues its initiatives in organizing programs and projects for livelihood training, educative formation, medical missions, community participation and the like.
