Across the country, over a hundred transformative feminist leaders stand united under the ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ, an intergenerational, intersectional movement launched in February 2025, driven by our shared vision of a Philippines where power is transformed, patriarchal governance is dismantled, and leadership is rooted in justice, care, and people centered governance.
As the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women comes to a close, we reaffirm our collective missionโto organize, strengthen, and mobilize feminist leaders who challenge oppressive systems, advance feminist governance, and reclaim political spaces. We are committed to growing a powerful feminist community, widening our political influence, and pushing forward the policy changes that uphold womenโs rights and dignity.
But we cannot build this future while Violence Against Women in Politics (VAWP) continues to silence, terrorize, and push women out of political life.
This year alone, we saw Mexicoโs President-elect subjected to sexual harassment, Manila Councilor Eunice Castro harassed by a fellow councilor in full public view, and several of our own LakasBayi members navigating similar abuses in their local political spacesโclear reminders that no position, no
community, and no woman is spared from misogyny in politics.
If this is what women in power experience, what more those who are still aspiring, or those with no political protection at all?

It is a tool of patriarchal control designed to intimidate, punish, and remove women from political spaces.
It tells young women: this is not for you.
LakasBayi rejects this completely.
We stand firm in our Transformative Feminist Principles: leadership that is ethical, caring, participatory, intersectional, and unwavering in its duty to protect womenโs safety and dignity. This is the kind of leadership we insist onโone that makes political spaces genuinely safe and empowering, especially for young women stepping into public life and for those already carrying the weight of service inside our institutions.

On this final day of the 18-Day Campaign, LakasBayi calls for decisive action:
Pass and enforce a national policy against Violence Against Women in Politicsโone with real penalties and real protection for women leaders.
Adopt zero tolerance against harassment, misogyny, and abuse. Investigate and act swiftly on complaints, hold perpetrators accountable, and make your spaces safe for women to lead.
Use your voice and influence. Stand with women leaders, back them publicly, and call out VAWP wherever it appears.
Refuse to be instruments of misogyny and disinformation. Uphold truth, dignity, and fairness. Do not allow your platforms to be used to attack, demean, or endanger women in politics.
The fight for a just and feminist democracy will not be won by silence.
It will be won by collective courage, solidarity, and a movement of women leaders and allies who refuse to accept violence as the cost of participation.
We will accept nothing less, and we will build nothing less.
