Tzu Chi Davao gathered volunteers, scholars, guests, and supporters last Sunday at Davao Chong Hua High School for its annual 3-in-1 celebration in honor of Buddha Day, Motherโs Day, and Tzu Chi Day, while also commemorating the Foundationโs 60th Founding Anniversary.
Filled with solemn prayers, meaningful ceremonies, and moments of reflection, the gathering highlighted the values of compassion, gratitude, and harmony inspired by the teachings of Dharma Master Cheng Yen. At a time when many communities continue to face challenges and division, the celebration served as a reminder of the importance of kindness and unity.
This yearโs theme, โMay we never forget the initial spirit of the Bamboo Bank. May we always remember our great vow to uphold the Tzu Chi Path,โ encouraged participants to turn sincere intentions into acts of service and continue praying for peace throughout the world.
A peaceful atmosphere surrounded the venue as attendees joined walking meditation, ceremonial offerings, and silent reflections centered on hope, humility, and care for others. Through every part of the program, the spirit of volunteerism and humanitarian service remained at the heart of the celebration.
The event was led by ๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ถ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ผ ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ-๐ถ๐ป-๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ก๐ฒ๐น๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ต๐๐ฎ together with volunteers and scholars who contributed to the meaningful and uplifting ceremony.
Vice Mayor Tess Timbol of the Municipality of Kapalong, who attended the celebration for the first time, shared how deeply moved she was by the experience.
โThis is my first time attending, and it is truly a moving experience. I found myself holding back tears because the ceremony held this afternoon was so incredibly solemn,โ she said.
She also recognized the compassion and dedication shown by the Tzu Chi Foundation in helping communities and encouraging scholars to continue striving for their dreams while practicing kindness and gratitude.
โYou can truly feel the heart of the Tzu Chi Foundationโthe way they work to help, the compassion they show, and the love shared by all the members. Their commitment to sharing blessings with everyone in need is inspiring,โ she added.
For Diana Abibuag, a 3rd year Tzu Chi scholar from the University of Southeastern Philippines, attending the celebration for the second time became a meaningful and inspiring experience.
โWitnessing the celebration of the 60th Tzu Chi Day reminded me to continue living with compassion, gratitude, and perseverance despite lifeโs challenges,โ she shared.
She added that the Incense Praise ceremony was among the most unforgettable parts of the gathering because it filled her with peace, hope, and inspiration.
โThe Incense Praise ceremony was very memorable because it gave me a sense of peace, hope, and inspiration,โ Diana added.
Meanwhile, Carla Jane L. Daguino from Tzu Chi Alumna Batch 1 expressed her gratitude and happiness for once again becoming part of the celebration.
โActually, I am so overwhelmed. This is my third time attending the 3-in-1 celebration of Tzu Chi. I am very happy and blessed to be part of this celebration,โ she said.
According to Carla, Tzu Chi taught her many valuable lessons, especially the importance of helping others and having a compassionate heart.
โBecause of Tzu Chi, Iโve learned many things. One of them is the importance of helping other people and having a kind heart,โ she shared.
She also expressed her hopes for the organization to continue helping more people in the years ahead while encouraging scholars to continue serving in their own little ways.
โMy wish for Tzu Chi is for them to have more years to help more people in need and continue their good mission. To all the scholars, keep up the good work. Let us continue to serve and help Tzu Chi in our own little ways,โ Carla added.
As the Tzu Chi Foundation celebrates 60 years of humanitarian work, Tzu Chi Davao joined communities around the world in offering prayers of gratitude, compassion, and peace. More than commemorating milestones, the gathering served as a reminder that genuine peace begins within every heart and grows through acts of kindness shared with others.
