Congratulations, IDEAS Davao, and the Davao Region Startup Ecosystem!

Davao City Ascends: A Milestone at the 2026 Global Startup Ecosystem Awards

Davao City is gaining international recognition as a top destination for fast-growing startups. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

IDEAS Davao is honored to announce its invitation to the Global Startup Ecosystem Awards 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This invitation follows our recognition as one of the Top 3 Fastest-Growing Startup Ecosystems in the Philippines, a distinction that underscores the strategic maturation of Southern Mindanaoโ€™s economic engine.

Validated by StartupBlinkโ€™s Global Ecosystem Indexโ€”the worldโ€™s leading index tracking over 1,500 innovation economiesโ€”this accolade signals a new era for regional stakeholders. For investors and venture funds, it confirms Davao as a fertile ground for scalable innovation; for entrepreneurs, it provides a globally recognized platform for expansion; and for our institutional partners, it validates the conversion of our collaborative frameworks.

As IDEAS Davao representatives accept this honor on the global stage, we reinforce our commitment to cross-border investment and regional cooperation. The ceremony catalyses partnerships with global ecosystem builders, positioning local startups to access international capital and emerging technology markets.

This achievement is the direct result of the robust partnership between DOST-PCIEERD and RITTD. Through the Regional Startup Enabler for Ecosystem Development (RESEED) Program, our consortium has bridged the gap between talent and capital. By converging public policy with private sector agility, we have transformed the Davao Region into a cohesive hub where incubators, accelerators, and government institutions work in lockstep to back Mindanao-grown innovation.

Even thousands of miles away, this moment belongs to our local startup community. Celebrate this milestone with usโ€”share this post, tag a Davao founder or investor who inspires you, and letโ€™s keep taking Mindanao to the world!

๐Ÿš€ BOOTSTART 2026: Equipping Mindanao Startups for Success!

From July 15โ€“17, 2026, the UIC MARIAN Technology Business Incubator (MARIAN TBI) proudly participated in the 2026 Startup Grant Fund (SGF) BOOTSTART โ€“ Mindanao Leg held in Koronadal City, South Cotabato. Organized by the Department of Science and Technology โ€“ Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) in collaboration with SICAD-SOX, the three-day bootcamp was designed to equip startups with the knowledge, skills, and mentorship needed to develop high-quality proposals for the Startup Grant Fund (SGF) Program.

The bootcamp officially commenced with a welcome message from the SICAD SOX Consurtium Director, Ms. Giselle Eve Siladan, followed by an inspiring message from DOST XII Regional Director, Engr. Sammy Malawan, encouraging participants to pursue innovation that creates meaningful impact. Throughout the three-day program, Lead Facilitator Engr. Edward Paul H. Apigo, DOST-PCIEERD SGF Program Manager, guided participants through insightful lectures, coaching and mentoring sessions, and intensive writeshops that strengthened their understanding of the Philippine startup ecosystem, the Startup Grant Fund Program, and the fundamentals of crafting competitive startup proposals.

"Clarity. Sanity. Grit." These three words defined the second day of the bootcamp. Participants were reminded that building a startup goes beyond having an innovative idea. It requires clarity in identifying the right problem to solve, the sanity to set realistic goals and maximize available resources, and the grit to continuously learn, adapt, and persevere. Through inspiring founder stories and hands-on proposal workshops, participants gained valuable insights into understanding their target markets, developing solutions that address real-world challenges, and creating innovations with meaningful impact.

The final day focused on transforming ideas into fundable proposals. Participants learned how to navigate the DOST Project Management Information System (DPMIS) and prepare strong Startup Grant Fund (SGF) applications, equipping them with practical knowledge for future funding opportunities.

Representing UIC-MARIAN TBI were Julie Joy Caroro and Edel Jhonrex Sarzuelo of ANIAG Tech Solutions, Ronald Maslog of Burnoy Tech, Krislyn Guitguitin of Project LUSOG, Lawrenz Josh Mamparo of Lagoy, and Ej Mante, Technical Staff of MARIAN TBI, representing TechnoHive Solutions Inc.

While our incubatees were not yet able to present their startup ventures during the bootcamp as their technologies are still undergoing intellectual property protection, the experience proved to be highly valuable. They actively participated in the writeshops, mentoring sessions, and discussions, and successfully developed draft proposals that will serve as strong foundations for submission to future Startup Grant Fund (SGF) calls.

MARIAN TBI remains committed to preparing our startups not only to innovate, but also to become investment and grant-ready through continuous learning, mentorship, and strategic support.

Beyond the learning sessions, the bootcamp was also a fun and memorable experience. It provided our participants with the opportunity to connect with fellow innovators, exchange ideas with startups from across Mindanao, build new networks, and enjoy the collaborative spirit of the Philippine startup community. These meaningful interactions made the experience even more rewarding and inspiring.

We extend our sincere gratitude to DOST-PCIEERD, Engr. Edward, and SICAD-SOX for organizing this meaningful initiative and empowering the next generation of Filipino technology startups.
