𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐃𝐔𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐆: 𝟐𝟓𝟎+ 𝐏𝐃𝐋𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝, 𝟐𝟓𝟎+ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧

Through Project Dungog, under JCI Kadayawan’s long-running Beyond Prison Walls: Bilibid or Not, we work to provide legal assistance to Persons Deprived of Liberty who may already be legally entitled to release.

Today, we celebrate a milestone that goes far beyond numbers:

More than 250 PDLs have been successfully released through petitions for Habeas Corpus.

Behind every release is a person walking beyond prison walls, a family welcoming someone home, and a life given another chance.

This project would not have been possible without the vision and leadership of 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲 “𝗔𝗶𝗮” 𝗧𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮, 𝘑𝘊𝘐 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 2026 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘑𝘊𝘐 𝘒𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘯, whose dedication brought together lawyers, paralegals, law students, partners, and volunteers toward one shared purpose: 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

Our deepest gratitude to 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼 𝗧𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗝𝗠𝗖 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗝𝗖𝗜 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝗖𝗜 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗨𝗽𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻, together with our volunteer lawyers, paralegals, law students, sponsors, and supporters who made this work possible.

We also thank the 𝗕𝗝𝗠𝗣 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 who assisted released PDLs in their journey home to their respective provinces, and 𝗝𝗖𝗜 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗨𝗽𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 for providing assistance and linkages for ambulance transportation when needed.

Because freedom does not end at the jail gates. It means making sure they are given the dignity, support, and opportunity to truly come home and begin again.

More cases are still being worked on. Our work continues.

This is Project Dungog. This is service that changes lives.

𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴. 𝘙𝘦𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴.

Our long-running Beyond Prison Walls: Bilibid or Not project continues to create opportunities that go beyond the walls of detention.

This time, we partnered with 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐃𝐀 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐫𝐨 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 to provide skills training to 50 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at Lupon District Jail, focusing on concrete mixing and pouring.

More than learning a technical skill, this training is about preparing them for the life that awaits beyond prison walls. By equipping our PDLs with practical and livelihood-ready skills, we hope to give them a better chance to find employment, earn a living, and rebuild their lives once they have served their time and returned to their communities.

Because rehabilitation should not end with serving a sentence. It should include opportunities to learn, grow, and begin again.

Our heartfelt thanks to 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐃𝐀 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐫𝐨 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐥 for sharing our commitment to giving PDLs a meaningful path toward reintegration and a better future.

Through Bilibid or Not, we continue to believe that a person’s past does not have to define what comes next.

Every book can open a new world. Every page can spark curiosity. And every opportunity to learn can help shape a child’s future.

Through Turning Pages, Changing Lives, JCI Kadayawan continues its commitment to supporting the education and literacy of Ata Manobo children in geographically isolated communities.

This initiative is part of 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙎𝘼𝙇𝙐𝙈𝘼𝙔𝘼𝙂, our continuing effort to bring meaningful and sustainable support to indigenous communities, especially children whose access to educational resources remains limited.

We are grateful to our partner, the 60th Infantry Battalion, for once again helping us reach communities where support is needed most. Your partnership makes it possible for these books and learning materials to go beyond collection points and into the hands of the children they are meant for.

To everyone who donated books, school supplies, learning materials, and other resources, daghang salamat. What may be a simple book or school material to us can become a child’s opportunity to discover, learn, and dream bigger. ❤️
