NEWS FROM THE FIELD | Calinan East District Welcomes New Scouting Leaders

DAVAO CITY – In compliance with Council Office Memorandum No. 2, Series of 2026, the Calinan East District officially installed its new Scouting Committee officers on March 9, 2026, at Lt. C. Villafuerte Sr. Elementary School.

Felita M. Nuñez takes the helm as District Chairperson, joined by 1st Vice Chair Silverio T. Abella, ALT, and 2nd Vice Chair Allan R. Molde. The ceremony, led by Local Council Executive Board Member Dante M. Simangan and Council Scout Executive Dionel Batistel, was attended by District Commissioner Asuncion S. Infiesto and District Assistant Commissioner Marivic E. Tongco.

Institutional Heads and School Coordinators from various schools across the district were also present during the ceremony, showing their support for the strengthening of the Scouting program in Calinan East District.

The installation marks a renewed commitment to empowering youth, promoting leadership, and strengthening community service through the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in Calinan East. The new officers are set to lead the district in inspiring Scouts to serve with dedication and honor.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD | Wireless Elementary School Honors Scouting Founder on 169th Birth Anniversary

DAVAO CITY – Scouts and Scout Leaders of Wireless Elementary School gathered early this morning, February 23, 2026, to pay tribute to the "Chief Scout of the World," Lord Robert Baden-Powell, in celebration of his 169th Birth Anniversary.

The commemorative event, held within the Davao Central District, centered around a solemn floral offering at the school’s permanent bust of Baden-Powell. The ceremony was led by Institutional Commissioner Anthony C. Batocael, who emphasized the enduring relevance of scouting values in the modern academic environment.

By honoring Baden-Powell’s legacy, Wireless Elementary School continues to foster a sense of leadership and civic responsibility among its learners.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD | Scouting Leaders Converge for Basic Training Course in Daliaon

DAVAO CITY – Strengthening the foundation of local scouting, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Davao City Council, Area V, officially kicked off its Basic Training Course (BTC) for Kawan and Troop Leaders on January 30, 2026. Hosted and initiated by the Daliaon District Scouting Committee, the three-day training is being held at Ramon F. Magsaysay Elementary School in Toril and will conclude on February 1.

Dante M. Simangan, LT, serves as the Course Leader for the BTC-Kawan Leaders, while Nestor D. Cadavas, ALT/CMT, leads the Course for the BTC-Troop Leaders. Together, they are guiding a new cohort of trainees through the essential methodologies of the scouting movement.

A Strong Display of District Support

The training is bolstered by a distinguished Course Staff, including highly supportive District Commissioners such as Leonida A. Polentinos, CML of Daliaon District, Jayreen B. Pabi, CML of Marilog North District, and Alejandro G. Curay, CML of Sta. Ana District. Their presence, along with various School Commissioners from across the districts, underscores a unified commitment to leadership excellence within the Council.

Also lending their support to the event are Acting Council Scout Executive Dionel D. Batistel and Board Member Raniel T. Nocom. Supported by the Technical Working Group (TWG) and seasoned staff members, these officials are ensuring that the participants receive the highest standard of scout training.

By investing in the development of its adult leaders, the Area V and the Davao City Council continue to fortify the scouting spirit, preparing participants to return to their respective schools with renewed vigor and knowledge.

NEWS FROM THE FIELD | Bangoy District Seats New Leadership at 2026 Camporal

VICENTE HIZON SR. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL — The Bangoy District Scouting Committee officially marked a new chapter in its leadership history on January 23, 2026, with the formal Investiture and Installation Ceremony of its District Chairperson.

The ceremony was held in strict compliance with Council Office Memorandum No. 2, Series of 2026, serves as a cornerstone event during the ongoing District Camporal 2026.

The Hon. Ivan Diwane V. Apostol was officially installed as the District Chairperson of Bangoy District. His induction signifies a renewed commitment to the Scouting movement's values of character, citizenship, and outdoor adventure within the local community.

The installation was led by scouting officials composed of Board Member Dante M. Simangan, Council Scout Executive Dionel D. Batistel, and District Commissioner Maria Doreen A. Daplin. The rites were also presided over by Joshua Francisco U. Chua, Deputy Council Commissioner for Rover Scouting. The ceremony was witnessed by School Heads, Unit Leaders, and Boy Scouts of the district, marking a significant transition in leadership.
