As the second day celebration of the 61st Founding Anniversary opened, the Council Scout Executive and Youth Development Officer II of Davao City Council, Dionel D. Batistiel left a vital reminder for the children, the heart of the Scouting movement, and parents, whose support and nurture help shape the nation's future at home.

Centered on the theme: “Boy Scouts: Ready for Life,” Sir Batistiel calls for a renewed focus on character development, particularly in light of recent challenges facing young people in the Philippines.

He highlighted that being "Ready for Life" goes far beyond survival skills, putting an emphasis that good character and service to others are equally important in the Scouting movement and in the communities it serves.

The call stems from a time when the Filipino youth are facing significant issues, one of which refers to the heartbreaking shooting incident inside a school in Tacloban City, Sir Batistiel expressed that these events remind us of a critical issue: that Filipino youth are now facing "dying character development."

The 61st Founding Anniversary celebration in Davao City Council continues with various activities, but the Council Scout Executive’s message regarding children’s character and parents responsibility has become an invitation for renewed commitment to the Scouting movement.

The council has reaffirmed its dedication to preparing young men and women to be truly "Ready for Life," inside and out.

Participating schools in the Kawan Section of BSP - Davao City Council joins the Choral Competition during the second day of the 61st Founding Anniversary Celebration. The said competition took place at Magallanes Elementary School along with other activities lined-up for the said celebration.

Emphasizing the essence of the celebration, participants displayed their harmony and scouting spirit on stage with each team delivering powerful vocal performances that not only showcased artistic skill but also resonated with themes of brotherhood and service to the community.

Proving that big dreams can come in small packages, the KAB Scout section took center stage during the Boy Scouts of the Philippines - Davao City Council's 61st Founding Anniversary. Held at Malagsang Elementary School on July 20, 2024, the "Kid and Parent/Guardian Got Talent" event beautifully showcased the talent, camaraderie, and deep rapport shared between young scouts and their parents.

The stage became a place of joy as the young KAB Scouts collaborated with their parents, building core memories that extended far beyond the competition. One seven-year-old KAB Scout overflowed with happiness after sharing the microphone with his father. "Nalipay ko sa pagkanta kay naa si Papa nga nikanta sad kauban nako," he shared. (I was so happy singing because Papa sang along with me.) It was a simple yet profound statement filled with gratitude and love.

The empowering impact of parental presence was echoed by another young KAB Scout from Rivera Front Elementary School, who performed alongside his father. "I feel happy performing with my dad because he is there," he proudly expressed. His words highlighted how a father's visible support can instantly boost a child's confidence, giving them the courage to shine under the bright lights.

Generoso Elementary School garnered the first place of the Kid and Parent/Guardian Got Talent with a terrific heartfelt performance that earned the applause of the crowd. The second place was awarded to VLAES - Bangoy District and the third place being Riverside Elementary School.

Events like these prove that consistent support and encouragement give children an unmatched sense of pride and positive energy. By fostering these strong family foundations today, Scouting helps shape young children into well-rounded, responsible citizens and the capable leaders of tomorrow.

Fostering parenthood and strengthening the bond between young scouts and their families, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines - Davao City Council celebrated its 61st Founding Anniversary at Magallanes Elementary School with a vibrant showcase of skills with the "Kid and Parent/Guardian Got Talent" competition. The event served as a platform for Kid Scouts and their parents or guardians to showcase their talents, highlighting a beautiful display of bond and camaraderie.

For the participants, the stage became a place of core memories. Kija A. Demegillo, a Kid Scout who performed alongside his father, shared his excitement, and said "Nagkanta mi ni Papa ug nagsayaw. Na-happy ko kay naa si Papa nga nag-support sa akoa sa pag-dance." (Papa and I sang and danced. I am so happy because Papa was there to support me in my dancing.)

His father also extended his heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing the value of the experience, "Kani na event kay isa ka opportunidad sa akoa. Dili lang kay nakaperform with pride, makalipay lang na nakaapil ko ug performance kauban sa akong anak. Supporta lang gyud ta kay mao man ni ang gusto sa akong anak," he shared. (This event is a great opportunity for me. It’s not just about performing with pride; it brings so much joy to share the stage with my child. We really just need to support them because this is what our children love to do.)

Subasta Elementary School – Calinan West District bagged first place in the Kid and Parent Got Talent competition with a truly earnest performance, where the love between parents and their children outshone the atmosphere of the event. With the victory of second place being Quirino Elementary School - Calinan East District, and the Doña Soledad Dolor Elementary School - Talomo East District was awarded third place in the contest.

The warmth of the event didn't stop as another six-year-old Kid Scout from Subasta Elementary School shared a simple yet profoundly touching message after performing: "I sang with Mommy and I feel happy with it. I want to say I love you, Mommy."

Moments like these prove that through unconditional love, parental support, and active camaraderie, we can gently shape and encourage the youth of today, inspiring them to fearlessly grab opportunities and spread love in their communities.

A high-stakes event organized as part of the 61st Founding Anniversary of Davao City Council demonstrates composure under pressure where the participating high schools in the Rescue Olympics held at Bolton Elementary School on July 18, 2026 showed skill and collaboration throughout the event.

Organized by the Boys Scouts of the Philippines - Davao CIty Council as its flagship competition, the single-day tournament features eight school scouting units. Participants were put to the test in real-time first-aid scenarios that evaluates speed, technique, and safety compliance under high-pressure conditions.

Dona Carmen secured the championship after demonstrating a series of accurate emergency care procedures in nine minutes flat. Brokenshire College Toril took second place, marking a historic first ever award for its scouting unit, while Baguio National School for Arts and Trades rounded out the podium in third place.

The competition aims to gauge and test the knowledge of the scouts in emergency preparedness and response while simultaneously empowering teamwork and decision-making during crisis situations. Organizers and evaluators of the said competition highly emphasized that beyond determining the winners, the contest must be a platform to prepare young people, scouts, for real-life emergencies. They must be prepared for prompt and appropriate actions that can help save and preserve lives.

The Rescue Olympics concluded with an awarding ceremony recognizing the top-performing teams and outstanding participants, capping off a day that showcased the resiliency of Davao's senior scouts to public service and emergency response.

DAY 1 | 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱

Participating institutions of the Troop Section comprising three different schools joined the Scout Skills Contest during the first day of the Founding Anniversary celebration. Camaraderie and grit are exemplified during the activity proper. Held at Magallanes Elementary School on July 18, 2026, the competition empowers and gauges the scouts admirable survival skills.

The competition ground quickly transformed into a busy hub of energy as the young scouts faced various challenges designed to test their practical knowledge. To sum up the Scout Skills activity, multiple core events were done, this includes Fire Making, Knot Tying & Lashing, and Bandaging activity, all of which are essential parts of traditional scouting skills. The participants had to rely heavily on their training and synchronization to emerge on top.

The atmosphere grew intense during the fire-making phase, where scouts scrambled to gather materials and spark a flame using only primitive methods. Dealing with the wind and the competitive pressure from the other teams, the participants remained focused and determined to complete the challenge within the allotted time.

When the points were finally tallied, the top spot was claimed by a powerhouse team that dominated across all categories, namely the Davao Central District. They brought their best strategy to the field and was officially declared the first-place champion, earning loud cheers from their school delegation.

Not far behind in the overall standings, the other competing schools also put up an impressive fight to secure their places. The resilient delegation from Daliaon District took home the second-place trophy, while the dedicated scouts of Calinan West proudly captured third place.

As the day came to a close, the trophies represented more than just a victory in a game. They symbolized the survival skills and brotherhood fostered through scouting. Win or lose, every participant left the Magallanes grounds with a stronger sense of readiness, proving that the future leaders of the council are well-prepared for any test life throws their way.

DAY 1 | 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁

Elementary boys from various schools stepped up to the challenge of public speaking for the Oratorical competition held at Magallanes Elementary School on July 18, 2026. The Competition was organized as a part of the councils’ vibrant celebration of the Founding Anniversary. The event highlighted the talent and potential of the communities’ next generation of leaders.

The skills of communication on young adolescents’ merits consideration, hence, the contestants are given the stage to speak about the theme “Boy Scouts: Ready for Life”. This activity became a platform for the Boy Scouts to showcase their oratory talents and step into the spotlight. It was a proud moment for the community to hear the strong impactful voices of tomorrow's leaders.

During the heat of the moment, one participant said, “I’m intimidated by the good performances of the other contestants,” exemplifying the nerve-racking atmosphere at the contest venue. Though the great performance of each participant was clearly demonstrated, only one scout brought the gold medal home. A Scout from Calinan West proudly bagged the first place after a very close competition.

Not very far behind was the representative from Talomo East who earned the second place spot, while the talented contestant from Daliaon secured the third place honor. All the participants went home winners in their own right for facing their fears on stage.

The winner of this competition will perform again on July 25, 2026 as an exhibition for the final day of the Founding Anniversary celebration. As the gymnasium emptied and the cheers died down, it was clear that the event was a huge success. With the skills they gained from this experience, they are definitely moving one step closer to becoming fully ready for life.

The 61st Founding Anniversary started with the poster-making contest that commenced at Magallanes Elementary School on July 18, 2026, comprising 8 participating schools for the Kawan section and 11 participating schools for the Troop section. The contest is centered on the theme, “Boy Scouts: Ready for Life.”

The contest’s objective is to portray the capability of the early youths to create an imaginative masterpiece out of one blank canvas, bringing ideas to life. The participants were given two hours to create their crafts with the 1/8 illustration board provided and a team of panel closely observing every masterwork being progressed.

By the end of the competition, the final participant who took 1st place in the Kawan section was Scout Bryan Jr. D. Cubresis, Coached by Merlita Magayon. Young Bryan expressed that he didn’t expect to win, but rather just did his best. With full dedication and an unexpected victory, Bryan took the gold medal home.The second placer scout is trained and guided by coach Elmer Sarillan, whereas the third placer scout won under coach Joyce Ann P. Bajenting.

For the Troop section, the one who bagged the medal home was Scout Ethan I. Ruam, coached by Elmer Sarillana. After winning the gold, Ethan stated that during the completion of his craft, he honestly expected to place only second, but the odds were in his favor and he joyfully won 1st place in the poster-making contest. Scout Daniel B. Balmori placed second in the said contest, trained by his coach, Pernil B. Pil, followed by Scout Alexis James B. Paguidopon as the third placer.

The contest was done asynchronously together by the two sections. Unlike art competitions with full preparation, the contest challenged participants to conceptualize and complete their posters entirely on the spot. With only the allotted time and provided materials, carrying only their own creativity to rely on, each scout shifted a blank illustration board into a visual artwork that tells a story.

This event became an avenue for the young scouts coming both from Kawan and Troop section to express and portray their creative innovation. Truly, the artwork done resembles the colorful journey the Scouting movement can offer in someone’s life.
