Sometimes, what we need most is not advice, but a friend who truly listens. Thatβs the heart of being a peer counselor β to be a safe space, a shoulder to lean on, and a reminder that no one has to go through their battles alone.
ππ«π¨π£πππ πππ€πππ§π proudly joins the ππ«π¨π£πππ πππ€ππ¦π©πππ« program once again. A peer-to-peer counselling initiative led by Matias John Mercado, continuing the impact and bringing it twice as big and strong since its launch last October 29, 2024 at Brokenshire College Toril.
Now, with 100 participants, 10 schools and organizations, and 60 psych students gathered at Ateneo de Davao University, we witness the movement grow. This time it is louder, braver, and filled with more hope than ever before. π±
We are truly grateful for the chance to return, and we warmly acknowledge our former participants who have now embraced the role of junior facilitators and alumni guides: Ram Harley Laboy, Eramith Mikhalai Roldan, Naomi Carmille Reyes, and David CaΓ±ada. From once being learners to now stepping up as mentors, your growth and dedication inspire us all. π
This is the heart of Project Kakampeer: listening without judgment, holding space with empathy, and building connections that heal. A high school peer counselling program to build empathy, trust, and support in our schools. It starts with a conversation. It grows into a movement. It becomes a promise.
To our ππ«π¨π£πππ πππ€πππ§π participants, thank you for showing up with open hearts and willing spirits. Through this workshop, youβve learned that being a peer counselor is not about having all the answers, but about being present, listening with empathy, offering understanding, and walking alongside others in their journey.
π The impact continues β and so does our promise. Weβll always be here: a friend you can lean on, and a peer who will truly listen. Kaya, huwag kang matakot β kasama mo kami, palagi. π Maraming salamat muli, ππ«π¨π£πππ πππ€ππ¦π©πππ«, for letting us grow, give back, and walk this journey with you. π«
