Something exciting is making waves in Davao!

PADDLE PROUD DABAW 2026: Kayak and SUP Competition is bringing together paddlers for a day of fast racing, friendly competition, and an incredible paddling community.

Whether you’re aiming for the podium or taking on a new challenge, this is your chance to test your skills, meet fellow athletes, and experience the thrill of racing on the water.

Buhangin Dragons cap 2026 Feel Mati Paddlefest

MATI CITY, Davao Oriental- Team Buhangin Dragons cap the first-ever 2026 Feel Mati Paddlefest Dragonboat competition held last weekend at the Baywalk Wharf Mati Port here.

The Buhangin Dragons clocked 56.13 seconds in the 10-man boat team competition that covered the 200-meter straight up course.

They edged the Samal Dragons (56.70 seconds) in the finals.

El Rio Dragons (1:02.24) and Bugsay 2.0 (1:03.38) finished second and third runners-up, respectively.
Buhangin Dragon Eliaza Tequio came up as the most-bemedalled paddler in the Stand Up Paddle (SUP) and Kayak competitions played at the nearby Dahican Beach Resort and Spa.

She capped a gold medal in the SUP Female class timed at 3:22.41 and won another in the Kayak Women’s Tandem together with Alia Jane Duran at 3:16.28.

Her third gold medal was with Kurt Jericho Laga in the Kayak Mixed Tandem clocked at 2:38.72.
Trophies and cash prizes were given to the winners during the awarding ceremonies Mati City Tourism Officer Dashiele Indelible and Gerlie Alagano Operations Manager of Dahican Beach Resort and Spa and Adelina Hotel and Suites.

“It's good to bring water sports back here in Mati. We hope more competitions in the future to develop young and potential paddlers,” said race technical director Rey Sumagaysay of the Davao Paddling Association.

Backing the event which is in line with the 19th Cityhood Anniversary of Mati are the City Government of Mati, Adelina Hotel and Suites, Dahican Beach Resort and Spa, Leo Scorpio Van Rentals and Racabs Ads and Concepts.(Jon Develos)
