Amid the continued rise of HIV cases in the Philippines, coordinated and evidence-based action is urgently needed.
Project Yakap, in coalition with student governments, academic organizations, and advocacy groups, collectively affirm its commitment to addressing both the increasing incidence of HIV and the persistent stigma that undermines prevention, testing, and treatment efforts.
Recent data from the Department of Health and global health agencies indicate that ๐ฎ๐ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ฑ๐ณ ๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ด๐ป๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐๐ฉ ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐โunderscoring the scale and urgency of the crisis.
We assert that youth engagement must move beyond symbolic participation. Young people must be recognized as active stakeholders in shaping responses that are informed, inclusive, and grounded in the realities of affected communities.
This statement calls for strengthened sexuality education, expanded access to youth-friendly health services, and sustained efforts to address misinformation and discrimination. Effective responses require accountability across institutions and meaningful collaboration across sectors.
Addressing HIV and AIDS is not solely a matter of awarenessโit is a matter of access, equity, and sustained action.
