Second Chance Philippines Making a Difference—through Second Chances!

🏆 National Awardee, Ten Accomplished Youth Organization of the Philippines (TAYO 21) 🇵🇭

Second Chance Philippines is a non-profit organization that facilitates employment and livelihood for persons deprived of liberty (PDL) through a multi-dimensional approach in the community. It is a community-based post-release employment service of PDL. Second Chance Philippines has partnered with businesses and created an enabling ecosystem that provide former persons deprived of liberty employm

ent assistance, loan assistance, and other services that may help them start their lives anew outside prison. Inspired by the "Yellow Ribbon Project of the Singapore Prison Ministry, the project also aims to generate acceptance and raise awareness of the need to give second chances to former offenders and their families. We want to inspire the community to take action to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates back into society. Second Chance Philippines used the “Bridging Leadership Framework,” which is a management approach that promotes processes that address social inequities. It’s all about leading collaborative action to bring about social change. Bridging leadership involves three main segments: building ownership of the response, developing co-ownership with other stakeholders, and engaging in the co-creation of better, more inclusive societies. It is also anchored in the United Nation’s Development Goals and Ambisyon Natin 2040, of having decent work and economic growth, it also targets to establish sustainable and inclusive economic progress while eliminating forms of inequality in the country. SCP desires to bridge the disparity between the former PDL and the members of the community they will be joining hence, establishing a strong and long-term relationship based on trust and mutual understanding. VISION

"By 2030, Second Chance Philippines envisions an inclusive society wherein former Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) are given equal economic opportunities as they reintegrate into society's mainstream and become law-abiding citizens." MISSION

"An excellent aftercare community-based program that aims to eradicate the social stigma and reduce reoffending rate of former persons deprived of liberty by giving them a second chance to become productive citizens through employment opportunities and continuing development of the human capital for sustainable development." MANTRA

"Breaking the Shackles of Social Stigma..."

Merry Christmas from Second Chance Philippines, and thank you for walking with us this year!

To our stakeholders who kept us focused on what matters, to our partners who opened doors that used to be closed, to our LGUs who helped turn plans into action on the ground, to our interns who showed up with energy and ideas, and to our impact investors who chose to back outcomes and dignity, your trust carried this mission forward.

Because of you, second chances did not stay as a message on a poster; they became real work, real training, and real hope for families trying to rebuild. As we step into a new year, I hope you’ll keep asking the same question we ask every day: what else can we do together to make sure no one gets left behind?

FEATURES: For many Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), the real challenge begins once they leave jail. Starting over is difficult, and uncertainty often overshadows their hope for a new life. But in Romblon, one act of compassion has given a former PDL a stronger chance to rebuild.
